Matthew 4 Verse 10: "Jesus said to him. 'away from me Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only'."
In Mark 8 verse 29; Peter declares Jesus to be The Messiah. Great revelation that Peter received and spoke, but further on in the chapter, Peter puts his foot in it.
Verses 31 to 33: Jesus predicts His death. When Jesus plainly spoke about this, Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. Jesus rebukes Peter, 'Get behind me Satan!' .Jesus continues and says 'You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.'
Peter rebuking Jesus, Jesus rebukes him back. Peter was suggesting that there was a shortcut to saving the world, which is what Satan insinuated when He tempted Jesus in Mathew chapter 4. and Jesus Rebuked Satan.
Peter rightly identifies Jesus as the Messiah, and then has a revelation of worldly thinking. Only Satan would not want Jesus to die to pay for all our sins.
A few days later, Jesus unveils His glory while on a mountain with Peter. James and John; God booms His love for His Son. But once they travel back down the mountain, they are greeted by the brokenness of the world again.
What we need to take from our mountaintop experiences, is "That Jesus is the Christ", and as we make our way on life's journey, take the reality and truth of that confession with us. So when temptations and difficulties come along as they always will, we will be standing in the "Truth Of Who Jesus really is'.
And we will be able to rebuke the father of lies and deception Satan, and he will have no hold on us.
God Bless.
