I Almost Shut This Whole Thing Down

Hi to all,

Yesterday I opened my website planning to archive it. I'm a busy person with a full time career that I love, two kids, and a love of outdoor fun. I don't have a lot of time to devote to my corner of the internet in this season of life.

Then I looked at all of the templates and resources that have been downloaded this summer and realized something important: I cannot walk away if I'm helping even one person.

To do that more effectively and directly, I'm going to start offering coaching. This is for you if you are trying to grow your career and your family, feel overwhelmed by the many tasks of life, or want to ensure you're using your precious energy effectively. Topics can include:

  • Time management
  • Coordinating household responsibilities
  • Work-life balance
  • Finding a planning system that actually works
  • AI & digital tools that can help your productivity
  • Career growth

If you are interested, just send me an email directly at beth@parentlightly.com. I'll share some info on pricing, time slots and approaches.

I have very limited slots on this so please don't wait if you have any interest.

Best,

Beth

My Kid Is Starting Middle School & I Have Feelings

Welcome to Scary Mommy’s Back To School Issue (I know, I know, it’s that time). Here, we’re talking about everything from co-parenting through this busy season, to wondering if the dog needs a back to school routine, too.

This piece, “My Kid Is Starting Middle School & I Have Feelings,” is written by a mom who hasn’t quite gotten over the horrors of her own middle school experience, and now faces her own child’s start of that time.

Join us as we embark on this *most wonderful time of the year.*

Why You're Still Looking At Your Ex's Instagram

Why You're Still Looking At Your Ex's Instagram (Even Though You're 40 And Broke Up At 16)

I love Rachel Varina’s piece today, in which she writes: “Despite being a grown woman with children and a fully developed frontal lobe, every month or so it happens. I’m just going about my life — picking kids up from school, begging everyone to eat their dinner, crying in the shower from overstimulation — when I start thinking about my ex. You know the one. (And yeah, you have one.) The one your mind always goes back to even though you dated when you were 16 and are now old enough to get genuinely excited about a new vacuum.”

You won’t want to miss this one.

The Smartwatch That Grants Freedom, Minus Online Access

One minute, your child is asking you to tie their shoes. The next, they're hounding you for a phone. Unfortunately, telling you they’re ready and actually being ready aren't always the same thing. Enter the Gizmo Watch 4.

Enabled with video and voice call as well as message capabilities, this kid-friendly smartwatch gives your kids the independence they're craving without access to internet browsing and everything that comes with it. Meanwhile, you get the kind of reassurance every parent wants: location tracking, School Mode, watch removal detection, the ability to add parent-approved contacts, and a swim-ready design built for cannonballs, sprinklers, and everything in between.

The TLDR: the Gizmo Watch 4 is a first piece of tech that actually feels like childhood. And honestly? That's pretty refreshing.

Right now, eligible customers can get the Gizmo Watch 4 for free with a qualifying new watch line and service plan.*

*Promotion details: $179.99 purchase with a new watch line on a $10/month Gizmo Watch service plan. Less $180 promotional credit applied over 36 months. Promotional credit ends if eligibility requirements are no longer met; 0% APR.
