I have decided to stop going to my book club because of the poor book choices, Our leader likes to wrap books and then we find out what it is. This is a very sad story. Maggie was married to a closeted gay man during the 90's. He is diagnosed with AIDS after their baby is born. John Andrew will not live to see his son celebrate his 1st birthday. The family is lucky to HIV negative. John becomes disconnected from his family. He doesn't show remorse for endangering Maggie's life and the children. Maggie is not a likable narrator of her life. She knew that her husband had herpes way before they married. He was forced to tell her during the first two weeks of their relationship because he was having an outbreak. They had already had unprotected activity. I found Maggie to be bitter and self-centered. She continues to make bad choices.
