Am I The Last Mom In America Giving My Daughter A Barbie?

Today's piece is from yours truly, about one of the most iconic — and yet much-debated! — items in the millennial toybox: Barbie. I absolutely loved Barbie as a child in the 1990s. All those over-the-top clothes! The elevator in her Dreamhouse! Her hot-pink aisle loomed large at the store in my day, and it seemed she'd reign forever. But my daughter's generation is different.

And so I got to wondering: What's Barbie's place in 2022?

The Pound Puppies Saga: How These Plush Toys Hooked Us & Now Our Kids

"Twenty years before a sad Sarah McLachlan tune played over images of pets needing rescue at the ASPCA — commercials so brutal that even McLachlan can't watch them — I was a total sucker for Pound Puppies," writes Jessica G. Hartshorn today, wrapping up our series on the millennial toybox. "They were the pandemic dogs before there was a pandemic." Check out her final deep-dive into the toys of our youth!
