The legislator of Times Power, Wang hosted a press conference yesterday, stated how a woman, A came to her, telling that she'd been, sexually assaulted by a male instructor of a cram school, but the current law stated that the statute of limitation of sexual assault on a minor is twenty years, Wang believed, that there should be considerations toward the special circumstances of rapes in childhood and adolescent, that the statute of limitation should activate when the survivors became, adults; she'd also demanded that the department of education in Kaohsiung, to take actions against the gray areas of the cram schools, to expand the investigations, to see if there are, more victims.
Ms. A accused on FB awhile ago, that at age thirteen, she'd started getting sexually assaulted by her cram school instructor for three long years, he'd often taken the time spending alone with her, to sexually assault her, to fulfill his, urges, it'd been more than twenty years, and this predatory instructor is still, teaching. On the press conference yesterday, the woman stated, that all of these stories, are happening, all around us, that she believed, that in 2023, the society here is, advanced enough, mature enough, to see it, to offer that helping hand to the unknown corners where the victims lived, that she will, help with the investigations, hoping, that everything comes out into the open, to help protect, more victims like herself.
The mayor, Chen of Kaohsiung stated, that the Department of Education already started supervising the cram schools to have them set up clear cut rules of sexual harassment, prevention, the means of filing a complaint, and investigations of the matter, that more surveillance should be installed, and also demanding that the employees get educated on the matters.
The city's department of education pointed out, that the related matter had already, been sent to the D.A.'s office, and the city had mandated the cram school to stop operating, as the investigation is ongoing, and that they are going to work with the department of social services to investigate the matter; if the sexual harassment, sexual assault claims were found to be, valid, the employees of the cram school will get fired, and be listed on the unfitting list registry, and will NEVER get hired by any other cram school for life, and, if the sexual harassment, sexual assault is by the owner of the facility, then, the certificate to operate will be, retracted.
The legislator, Wang read a statement on behalf of Ms. A, called out to more potential victims, to not fear, to seek out help from the department of education in Kaohsiung, the Humanistic Education Foundation, as well as her office.
Wang told, that the National Human Rights Committee announced the start of the "national systemic interview plans", which plans to interview five hundred survivors of sexual assault in the childhood/adolescent years, to find the structural lacking in the systems, hoping that this program can also, include the cram schools as well.
And so, this is, another, #MeToo, because that very first brave person had, stepped out into the light, and, there should be, a longer statute of limitation on these things, because, sometimes, those who'd survived something like this, never got over their fears, of having their lives, torn, WIDE open, and examined by the society, which makes it that much harder for them, to come out, to make the accusations against the perps.
