My day began early with my 4 a.m. run. Our dog is in love with our male neighborhood. I processed another 44 jars of tomatoes, 10 jars of salsa, 30 jars of green beans, 30 jars of fruit, and 30 jars of beets. I intend to stock up on my daughter's pantry when we visit. We had overplanted to help with the foodbank and stock up on my daughter's shelves. I dried basil, rosemary, cilantro, coriander, and thyme for her spice shelves. We grew 150 pounds of pinto, 100 pounds of quinoa, and stevia. So, I am ready to bring these stores to her.
I made several make-ahead meals for the freezer. I gleaned 2 bushels of black walnuts. Confession time, I hate to process them. Black walnuts are lovely to eat, but a nightmare to possess. They stain everything. I finished those and they are in the freezer for baking and oatmeal.
Our new friends came to trade us for beets. They gave us 60 pounds of Elk meat which my husband loves. We gave them 200 pounds of beets. They also told us that the local fishery gives free salmon in October on Saturdays, and you show up with a fishing license. We have agreed to trade goats to keep inbreeding down in our herd.
I finished my quilt for our bedroom. It is sunflowers. I made sunflower curtains as well. I made a padded headboard to match. My husband is attaching it. My project for tomorrow is finishing the bookshelf headboards for the kids.
I spent the last hours of the afternoon doing my full house cleaning. As I have written before I make my cleaners. I used cinnamon in the main parts of the house. I used orange vanilla in the bathrooms. I made lavender mint pillow sprays for everyone to have sweet dreams.
Dinner tonight was beef stew, Parker House rolls, and salad. I made loaves of banana bread for the week, the oven was on so, I decided to bake. Desert was a simple homemade ice cream. I mixed up sweetened coconut milk with leftover coffee and 2 tablespoons of instant coffee powder. I tossed it into my ice cream machine and in 40 minutes we had soft serve.
I ran the dishwasher twice today. I have one more load to complete.
