Mompowerment Thoughts

Hi read,

How are you? How is your 2024 going?

I shared earlier this month about taking a pause before you started thinking through your goals. Chances are that you've already established goals or resolutions for 2024 if that is part of your routine. And, let's be honest, so many people lose steam on those goals. Life gets in the way.

I want you to keep going, aiming for those goals! I've got 7 tips that may help:
Plan your time. Yes, I will keep saying this. Plan your week over the weekend and plan each day the night before. Know how your week-long goals support your goals for the year. You will see how you move the needle over time.

Share the mental load. Get the support you need in your everyday life. Partner with your significant other. Carpool with fellow families that you constantly see at the same practices and events. You can ask for help. And when you partner with others, enable them to own whatever they are doing. You don't need to manage everything.

Maximize your time. It's not simply being more productive or better managing your time. It's about maximizing your time, which is a combination of productivity + time management + staying on task. Figure out what will help you in each of these areas.

Step away from bad habits. Here's the catch. Replace those bad habits with good ones. (The Mompowerment Facebook group is a good place to ask about these.) If you don't find good habits or behaviors, it's too easy to go back to those bad habits.

Check your internal voice. Is your internal voice constantly telling you that you can't do something? Is it putting you down over and over? That's not OK. Think about talking to yourself like you would a friend. Consider the things you would say to your child. That is how we need to talk to ourselves.

Maintain boundaries. Say no to things that don't serve you to say yes to your goals. Define and maintain boundaries and know your non-negotiables.

Carve out time to get things done. How will you find time to get things done if your calendar keeps filling up? The answer is that you won't. Carve out the designated time to get things done so you actually have time to work on them.

So, what is helping you work towards your goals? What goals do you have this year? (I share a lot about my goals for Mompowerment in a recent LinkedIn post.)

Hoping that your 2024 is off to a good start,
Suzanne

PS Don't forget to grab labels for the new clothes and items for your kids. My favorites are TagMates from Mabel's Labels (affiliate link). Keep your kids' clothes and items out of the school lost & found!
