It's midweek and I'm starting to be drawn into the 9- 5 lifestyle again when all I seem to do is go to work and come home. I know the weather is changing but this isn't the end of summer just yet. There are still plenty of sunset evenings and sunrises still yet to see. The temperatures are becoming crisp in the morning and evenings but the daytime temperatures are holding high still. This is a great time to experience the season change. The nights are drawing in but the sun is still in the sky until 8pm. As i've been wrapped up in day to day i've not been away in the van and I wanted to break this.
I had made it a mission to see the sunset for the evening. I finished work and met up with a friend, who was going to stay with me in the van, so we could have a treat dinner of Fish N Chips. Getting a takeaway also meant that we didn't have to cook in the van and take up valuable time. Food all consumed. We took a drive to the coast as we wanted to spend a bit of time on the beach to watch the sun go down. We had decided to try a new beach to catch the remains of the sun. We drove into Cornwall and went to the beach. We parked on the side of the road and took a trek down to the beach.
The path was very steep leading down to the beach but we were not disappointed by the views when we got there. We arrived on the beach to find there were a couple of people who were fishing off the shore line and had their rods set up for the eve. We also saw a small group of people who were cooking their dinner off a fire pit. It really was a picture perfect evening. We walked further around the beach and saw the sun glistening off the water.
After getting our feet wet we walked back along the beach and did the trek back up to the van. By this time of the night we looked on enviously as we passed by the people who had the fire pit. They looked particularly cosy.
We drove around the seafront in search of a space where we could park the van up for the evening. We had thought we would be able to see the sunrise too if we parked well enough. After a few minutes of driving up and down the road we parked the van in what we thought was going to be a good spot. We sorted out the back of the van to put the bed down and the fairy lights up. When we laid down we soon realised that the van wasn't on the flat. As much as I had maneuvered the van to get it into the best position. It still wasn't perfect. When we laid down in bed blood was slowly rushing to our heads and causing a bit of pressure. There was no way we could sleep like this. The quick fix was to swap what end of the bed the pillows went. Problem resolved, we took some notes of what needs to be looked at in preparation for Wales.
In the morning we had set an alarm to get up and watch the sunrise. We slid the van door open to look out to sea and it had a haze rolling in to land. We slowly came around to the morning with a breeze blowing through the van. I got up to start meddling with the vent in the ceiling to see if I could stop it from rattling, as this had been a big issue during windy nights. As I started to take the vent apart I could see an orange glow against the black plastic and soon thought that must be the sun. I got out the van and looked around to see one of the most beautiful sunrises in a while. The sun was full orange and felt like it was going to warm up the day.
We watched the sun rise together before we got in the van and started to drive back to reality of our working lives. On the way back we saw another van parked up in a fantastic location to watch the sun. We took note of the location for future sunshine. We spoke about a few things we needed to look at in preparation for our trip and it started the process of getting my ass in gear to insulate the van.
I arrived in work that morning feeling very smug with myself that I has spent my evening on the beach watching the sun go down and then see the sun come up. My soul felt full and I was ready to attack my day. This is tthe perfect example of my Moments Of Outdoors.
