We can fool most people, but we cannot fool God. Being a good impersonator might get us into many places, but it will not get us into The Kingdom of God. God looks at the heart, the deep things within us that motivate us, and our communication {Prayer} to Him should always be: "Search me God".
Reality would have us, seeking after God, and not putting on pretenses of one who follows Him. Reality of a life devoted to Him, would have us declaring, Psalm 42 verse 1:
"As a deer longs for the stream of water, so I long for you, God."
Isn't it sad that a lot of Christians, do not long for God in this way? Perhaps, because longing for God, we need to be real. Perhaps to long for God means we must get in touch with the deep longing within, for a thirst that nobody else, but Our Lord and Our Friend can satisfy. Perhaps we don't like to acknowledge our helplessness, a feeling which our fallen nature deeply dislikes.
Reality is knowing, Our Loving Creator God, and being open and honest before Him, we can't put on a false front before God, because He is All-Knowing, and know everything anyway.
Reality is to ask and allow Our Lord and Our Friend to search our hearts, and expose our self-centered thoughts and motivations, that would stop us from longing after Him.
Reality is being willing to face the fact that we may be drinking more from our own self-centered pools, then from the streams of living water that flows from the Throne Room of God.
Reality is living the transformed life we were created for. Pretending is trying to show people our faith, but not be willing to be transformed by it.
John 5 verse 40:" You are not willing to come to me that you may have life."
Romans 8 Verse 1: "" Therefore, no condemnation now exists for those In Christ Jesus."
That is reality, but there is no pretending as far as that scripture verse is concerned, we are either In or we are Out. We cannot we half -in or half- out, following Our Lord and Our Friend, requires our total commitment.
