FIVE YEARS MARRIED TODAY! Five years is wood, so I'm taking a moment to reflect on...Wood.... (and also the incredible partner I have for this life, and how smart I was to wed him.) Wood is one of nature's oldest resources. It's kept people warm and safe for millions of years. It's windows and plates, beds and picture frames, walls and chairs. Trees never die of old age. Disease gets them, but if left to their own devices, they would live forever, creating shade and boundary, ceiling and wonder. When I used to think about the person I wanted to end up with, I used to think, Tree. I didn't know what I fully meant, but I think I found him. Wise and grand, calm and strong, growing but constant. I LOVE YOU, TREE! Here's to a million more years.
