Alexis closed her eyes to it all. She always did because she had to. It was easier to pretend that everything was alright. It was easier to ignore the gnawing emotions inside her and smile. Carrying out her wifely duties was never an issue because it came naturally. Like a bird flying south for the winter, she did not have to think about it, she just did it. Of course, she was stressed, more so than most women. But she was lucky to have a husband like him. Someone who provided for her and her son. Someone who loved her the best he could and tried to do right by her. She was lucky she constantly reminded herself. She was lucky, right? Alexis nodded her head at her reflection, confirming this to herself. She wiped her eyes, blew her nose, and plastered on a smile as she left the bathroom.
