Hi read,
Today I was thinking about all of the productivity advice out there. There are so many systems I have tried over the years - Getting Things Done, Inbox Zero, Pomodoro Method, and the list goes on.
There are so many smart people out there thinking about productivity. So why do so many of us still feel overwhelmed, busy and guilty? Like we're failing in all aspects of our lives?
I've thought about this a lot - and I think it's because we try to be productive without first defining our purpose.
When you don't plan with purpose, you can feel constantly low-level stressed.
You know that nagging feeling when you're working from your home office but feel like you should be doing chores? GOODBYE.
When you're taking your kid to soccer practice but feel guilty for missing that random 5:30 pm meeting? NO MORE.
When you have a vision for your life, including your work, family and personal development, you make unapologetic choices. That feeling of peace is what I really want for you. And that's something that no productivity system, on its own, can provide.
If you want to get started thinking about this topic, check out this article on learning to prioritize with purpose and this one on creating a shared family vision.
Have a great week!
