Mompowerment Thoughts

Hi read,

How are you today? How's everything going?

Feeling like you might be missing an opportunity in this moment of Great Realignment? (It's more than a Great Resignation, don't you think?) Losing steam on resolutions? Or maybe you never got to the action stage of your resolutions. In this newsletter, we're talking about building momentum to take that action you haven't gotten to yet. Ready?

That Mel Robbins quote says so much. There is rarely a right time or moment when you're ready to take action. You have to decide to make something happen. For me, that decision right now is about being healthier. More on that another time.

So what will I be tapping into so I can make this change? And how will I build momentum? I'm sharing what's helped me in other moments that I'll be trying as I work to be healthier.

Know why you're making a change. Your motivation for change can help fuel your fire and build your momentum. It's hard to make change for the sake of making change. You can lose momentum fast. It's easier if you have that reminder for why you're making a change in the first place. If it's helpful, reply to let me know you want the Mompowerment Know Your Why Guide and I'll send it your way.

Decide to take action. Take action before you're ready. Start moving before all the pieces fall into place. And be OK with this approach. It's getting going that can be really hard. When (not if) you slow down, decide to take another action. Remember that you can pivot as you go. Progress isn't linear.

Start small. You've likely read my thoughts on how it's helpful to plan and break things down into smaller bites. Creating momentum is no different. Looking for a new role? Wanting to take on new responsibilities? Trying to create a business? Upleveling an existing business? Don't look at the big things on your to-do list. Make them small things and allow the momentum to build as you cross things off your list.

Create a routine to set you up for success. Are you at your best in the morning? That's when you should work on this change, not right before bed when you're pooped. Yes, wake up 30 minutes earlier. Know that you need to rock out to your favorite song first? Keep your phone charged and nearby so that you can. You get the idea. Figure out what works and empower yourself to use that routine to help you get started and keep going.

Start an I Rock folder. I've talked about it before. Your I Rock folder is where you put your big and small wins each week. It's so much easier to keep up the momentum when you see how far you've come over days, weeks, and months. Start one now for 2022 and each Friday add your wins from the week. Put it on your desktop or on your phone to make it easy. Add a reminder to your calendar.

All of these help me build momentum. How are you building momentum? Or maybe share what you're interested in changing? What's getting in your way and how can I help?

Can't wait to see what you share!
Suzanne

PS I'd I'm considering setting up two Zoom calls for those who subscribe to the Mompowerment newsletter, one for employees and one for entrepreneurs. Reply back with I'm in and whichever one you are so I can get a general idea of interest.
