Ezra 7 verse 10: "Because Ezra had determined in his heart to study the law of the Lord, obey it, and teach its statutes and ordinances".

Ezra is  a good example for us to follow in our relationship to the Word of God. He was a man with a prepared heart, devoted to the study of the scriptures. Even King Artaxerxes recognized  and affirmed Ezra's great knowledge of the Scripture.

Ezra followed it in his daily life. Obedience to The Word is where we experience the blessing, not just in the reading or hearing of it.  In James 1 verse 25:

"But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer who acts —this person will be blessed in what he {or she} does".

Undoubtedly The Lord gave Ezra special faith for the task, he was called to do, because He knew Ezra's desire was only to Glorify Him. When we see the factors of the task involved, we can see what great faith Ezra possessed. Here were several thousand exiles, inexperienced in travel  and warfare, carrying a fortune in gold and silver, led by a scholar, not a soldier, when traveling through dangerous territory. Ezra their leader didn't want an army to protect them, he trusted in the mighty hand of the Lord.

If God is at the beginning of the journey and we trust Him, He will remain with us throughout the journey and take us to our destination. Like Ezra we should take no credit for our accomplishments; and we should trust the gracious hand of The Lord, to be our guide and inspiration.

Each step of our journey through life, Our Lord and Our Friend will see to it we fulfill His loving purposes, and He has told us He will never leave us or forsake us. Hebrews 13 verse 5 and 6:

V5: "I will never leave you or forsake you".

V6: "Therefore, we may boldly say; 'The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me'?"

It is a joy and privilege to glean and learn from His Word.

God Bless.
