Isaiah 58:11 says "the Lord will guide you continually giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring". NLT
ESV "And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong and you shall be like a watered garden, like a sprint of water whose waters do not fail"
Isaiah 58 is a chapter about fasting. Verse 4 says "What good is fasting when you keep on fighting and quarreling? This kind of fasting will never get you anywhere with me." (What not to do)
Verse 7 "Share your food with the hungry and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them and do not hide yourselves from relatives who need your help." (What to do)
Verse 8 "Then your salvation will come like the dawn and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind. "
Verse 9 "Then when you call, the Lord will answer. 'Yes I am here', He will quickly reply"
I love the promise that follows in verse 11 "the Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry, and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden like an ever-flowing spring".
As our Lord and Friend comes and makes our hearts His dwelling place, we can be like that well-watered garden. As we make our hearts a stronghold of worship and praise, where only what is holy and pure can dwell, He will be a wall of protection around the garden of our hearts. He will help us keep our garden fruitful as we remain in sweet fellowship with Him each day, each moment of the day. Isaiah 27:3 "I, the Lord am its keeper, I water it every moment; lest any hurt it, I keep it night and day".
The Lord bless you and keep you like a well-watered garden.
