Actually, I Love Traveling With My In-Laws

We're back today with some more highlights from our travel package, On The Go With Scary Mommy. And we've got a fun piece from Allison Kenien: "I'm going to brag for a moment. I have incredible in-laws," she writes. Jealous? Well, she's not done: "In fact, they are so great that my husband and I love to take our two kids on vacation with them regularly. We've done some big adventures like Disney and Las Vegas. A lot of times we do small road trips where we might stay at a vacation house or a hotel. And you know what? They're great traveling companions and really good company. Here's how we make it work." So while you may fear the idea of one big family trip, she embraces it. Consider it counterprogramming. Have a read.

Traveling With Autistic Kids Shouldn't Be This Hard

"I love to travel, but by the time I've made it past airport security I need a very large glass of cabernet, a deep-pressure hug and a place to rest immediately — perhaps a therapist, too," writes Meg Raby. She explains: "Inside my brain is neurodivergence, meaning I have a brain that works in a way that might not be what is common, or neurotypical. Sure, there is an expected level of anxiety most experience when traveling, but to the extent that I and other neurodivergent individuals experience it? I'd wager not even close." And today she's talking about the challenges involved, as well as the organizations who are trying to make the experience better. Check it out.
