There is beauty in community and diversity. When I was young, I understood the importance of community, and now as a mature woman, I am consistently learning about diversity and the ways it inspires, impacts and influences nations, fosters collaborations and partnerships with other organisations and individuals. We learn how to acknowledge our uniqueness and find ways to learn about another person's culture and upbringing. We listen, and they speak, being free to express themselves in an organic manner.
When it comes to community and diversity, we see it all the time; when commuting to work, hosting online or in-person workshops, socialising and networking, and going outside for walks and meeting new people. There is beauty in people who don't look exactly like you, but find some similarities between each other. I enjoy learning from other people, especially when it comes to culture, diversity, inclusion, and good food << let's put some emphasis on this one!
From a travel perspective, how often have you been away from your own country to explore and meet other people across the globe? Even though it may not always be possible to go every year, once in a while will suffice - especially as you become more integrated with different people around you, you'll become more engrossed with their language, the way they do things, their upbringings, learning about the history of a country, and more importantly, being present and building a beautiful environment of memories to come.
I want to encourage you to embrace the community you're in, learn to make new friends and meet new people, and become an individual that diversifies in their personal and professional endeavours. Stay alert of changes that come your way and make the time to build authentic friendships with other people from different backgrounds. The world is massive and is beyond comprehension, and the beauty you'll find in stepping out and being open to others is what makes life beautiful and pleasant.
For now, bask in the present and embrace the different people you'll meet today and those who will become good friends, and possibly, partners and collaborations in your projects and roles for the future. It starts with your current community that builds a network of people that connects you to the relevant opportunities when you diversify.
With love,
Woman's Worth Conference Group.
