It has been a while since I had reason to go to the movie theater. Well, I can count on Marvel Studios to make a big budget comic hero movie to give me reason to finally return to theaters. Only problem is that the first Captain Marvel was not that good and the previews for the sequel "The Marvels" are looking pretty lame. But let's get out and try to enjoy it and hopefully be surprised.
*The MEAT* Ten minutes into "The Marvels" and I found myself quite irritated with all three of the main character's storylines. Then the story went *Down Hill* from there. Couple that with weak dialogue and jokes that seem like they are forced and inserted on purpose to remind us that the movie is not to be taken seriously. But we are supposed to take it seriously, right? I could go on but, you get the idea. Oh, and the main villain was horrible too which didn't help anything.
*The PATATOES* The acting is *Not even Trying* in this movie. The only one actually worth your time is Imen Vellani, reprising her role as Kamala Khan from the TV series, Vellani was literally trying to pull everyone through each scene while all the others seemed not willing to even want to try. And I guess Samual L Jackson is nothing but comedic relief anymore because he is not Nick Fury in this film at all.
*The VERDICT* If I sound upset over this movie, it is because I am. I'm sorry, but I expected more not less, and my expectations were not that high for this to begin with. Who is writing this mess? Why such a stale acting performance all around? And more importantly who is in charge of all this disaster? I get that Marvel peaked with "Endgame" and it is not expected to reach that high again, but they just keep going lower and lower. Fans and audience members do not deserve this kind of *Gross Neglect* of Marvel characters and their storylines and more importantly no one should pay full theater pricing for this movie or even waste their time on it if it were free. Not a good start for the holiday movie season.
