Wyvetta stands at the Atlantic City United Church and Casino, waiting for her fiancé Floyd to enter. When he doesn't show, Wyvetta's best friend, Dione, takes Floyd's place. Instead of a wedding in holy matrimony, they cement their friendship forever. They return to Wyvetta's home to find a 'Dear John' letter and a half-empty closet.
On their podcast, Di and Wy So Fly, Dione questions callers about when they take down their Christmas trees. Wyvetta ignores the topic and says she is 'Done with Love.' Dione tries to ignore Wyvetta's rant, but Wyvetta gets real. She updates their listeners on her love life. She decides to say no to love and romance, but not sex. Dione gives up love and relationships, too. After the show, their producer, Shante, worries this anti-love message won't connect with fans, but Wyvetta checks social media. The fans love it. Shante gives them approval to continue their new messages.
Eleven months later, Dione and Wyvetta have branded their 'Done with Love' message, and their friendship is strong. Wyvetta spends the evening with her parents, Harriet and Myron, while Dione meets her daughter, Sierra, at a diner. Sierra leaves earlier, and a man, Clarence, approaches Dione, but she turns him down before he can speak. Clarence corrects Dione because he wants her extra ketchup. The restaurant is out, and she is the only person with an extra bottle at her table. Dione doesn't believe him, but the waitress confirms later. Dione sends a carrot cake to apologize, but he doesn't accept it. She asks why, and Clarence explains his allergy to nuts. He teases her for trying to kill him. He invites Dione to eat alone with him. The spark between Dione and Clarence grows, but Dione wants to keep him a secret from Wyvetta. Dione continues to engage in the 'Done with Love' movement. What will happen when Wyvetta learns the truth?
This movie isn't a rom-com in the classic way. It's a friendship comedy. The bond between these women takes center stage. Dione and Wyvetta support each other during their movement. However, Dione has to hide her romance around Wyvetta. Their quarrel became public fodder among their family and fans. Wyvetta's family doesn't handle her gently. They get gritty and honest about her behavior, attitude, and expectations. It's what she needs, even though she won't listen. Everyone has been a Dione, a Wyvetta, or both. Like these friends, you can grow and be better.
