Cleaning the apartment after the raid had took until late at night. Still, Taehyung had taken utmost care to restore everything to its former state. He didn't want Santa or his friend to find the apartment in such an awful state.
Having fallen asleep on the living room couch after taping the hole in the window front shut, Taehyung woke up the next morning facing the beautifully decorated Christmas tree.
Just as expected there were no presents underneath the tree waiting for him.
But no presents could only mean one thing...
"Jimin?" Tae jumped up to his feet to check his surroundings. "Guys, are you here?"
No one answered.
Walking from the living room to the bathroom to every bedroom, Tae stopped in the kitchen and slumped in a chair. Would he ever see his friends again? Why did Santa Claus forsake him?
The sound of a door falling into the lock made him jump up.
"Tae? Are you here? Tae!"
Tears streamed down Taehyung's eyes hearing the voice of his best friend. He ran all the way down the hallway and jumped into Jimin's arms. "Jimin! You're here!"
"Oh, Tae! I'm so sorry!" Jimin's face was red from crying. "I don't know how that happened! How could we forget you at home!"
Tae released himself from the embrace and asked, "where are the others?"
"I'm sorry, but they won't— "
The front door opened once again.
"Could you postpone this annoying discussion about math until next year?" Namjoon scolded while shoving a heavy load of luggage into the hallway. "The only thing that is useless about math are the discussions you have about it!"
"But—!" Jungkook and Hobi shout in unison.
"No buts!" Yoongi hissed. "If I hear one more word about math I'm gonna take a math book and—"
"Guys! What are you doing here?" Jimin cried out in astonishment. "I thought you are still at the hotel in the US!"
"We took a flight to Seoul," Jin explained. "The ice and snow at Incheon Airport have miraculously thawed the moment after you were gone."
Bang PD-nim rushed past the bunch of boys who were greeting Tae, taking off their coats and unpacking their suitcases all at the same time. "Oh, Taehyung! I'm so glad to see that you are well. I apologize in the name of all of the members."
Before Tae could reply, Yoongi ruffled his hair. "Hey, Tae. Good to see you didn't starve to death."
"Good to see you too, Yoongi," Taehyung laughed and hugged him.
"We have a special surprise for you," Namjoon announced and handed a pet transportation box to Taehyung. "You two have been apart for too long."
"Tannie!" Tae opened the box's door and caught the little furball that was jumping into his arms in excitement to see his owner again. "This Christmas is perfect!"
"Wow! I wouldn't expect you to decorate the whole apartment," Hobi commented the walls laden with fairy lights. "You even polished the hallway!"
"Well, I had no wifi," Taehyung shrugged it off and fell in with the other's laughter.
"I think I should keep the whole burglary story to myself. The others probably wouldn't believe it anyway." Tae looked down to Yeontan, who was busy sniffing at a tree trunk. "What do you say, Tannie?"
Yeontan raised his leg, as if this was the answer his owner had hoped for. Smirking, Tae averted his gaze and let it wander across the white winter landscape.
In the distance he could see the supermarket cashier, Jessica, shyly walking up to Mr Lee, who was salting the sidewalk. After a few moments in which they were just staring at each other, they fell into each others arms.
Still hugging his niece, Mr Lee spotted Taehyung and raised an arm to wave at him. Taehyung eagerly waved back.
He had to correct the statement he made earlier. Now, this Christmas was perfect. And there was nothing that could ruin it.
An angry Yoongi came dashing out of the apartment's main building. "Tae! Where's my Cute Sleepy Cats Magazine?!"
"Uh-oh! Let's run, Tannie!"
The End
*Merry Christmas!*
