Television is one of those budget sinkers, Hulu Live has become as expensive as cable. 83 dollars. My husband loves football. Hulu isn't offering the games he wants. We switched to YouTube TV for 72 dollars, however, I found a coupons thta brings it down to 54 for 3 months. This will bring us almost to the super bowl in February.
The streaming services we have now are Prime and Hulu basic because they are paid for the year from my giftcards that I earned from online surveys. We have always used my side hustles for extras. Despite, inflation we are able to live on 1700 a month. We are saving a higher percentage of income for retirement savings and education. I received a substainal raise when my contract was renewed, I put that sum into our retirement account.
A portion of the family business profits and the AirBNB will be going into the children's education fund. We ant their education fully funded. The children are paid an hourly wage for their work. There are serious tax brakes for family buisnesses that pay their children.
I have said this time and time again, learn to do things yourself. I refuse to pay to have my pants hemed, most car repairs , I could go on and on. I refuse to simply buy a new item of clothing if it needs a zipper or a seam repaired. I refuse to put goods that still have use in the landfill.
Build up your pantry with 10 extra dollars in your grocery budget every week. Spilt a Sams Club membership with family or friends. You can purchase 25 pounds of rice for example.
Christmas presents do not have to be new, especially very pricey items. I had a laptop that could be upgraded. I sold it for 50 dollars on Facebook with extra memory. I didn't need it. It was on a wishlist. The mother was relieved, she had 7 children. Even one expensive gift per child is budget crushing. Our daughter was with me and offered to make her an American Girl bed and bedding for 5 year old. So, this morning, she made the wooden bed and is painting it. Later, she will sew the bedding. we deliever it tonight.
My low-cost activity today is cross country skiing. That will be my cardio and I will weights later.
