Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up - Review
Evergreen Lane gears up for Christmas with Jared as HOA president. Emily wants to redeem herself because last year, she was a Scrooge. This year, she has all the HOA rules memorized and decorations prepared. Evergreen Lane is a family. However, one of the members moved away. Now, they worry about who will take over the house.
Mary Louise gets a snap during an HOA meeting. The Jolly Johnsons are moving into the home. The attendees are speechless. The Jolly Johnsons won a holiday decorating reality show competition. The neighbors delight in the newcomers, except for Emily. She hasn't heard of the family, so Jared helps her catch up.
The Jolly Johnsons - Joe, Jane, and Jimmy - roll into town with two moving trucks, one for their furniture and the other for decorations. The neighbors sit in amazement at the Johnsons holiday magnitude. They ask the neighbors to approve all photos with their management and accept Pamela's special edition HOA rule book. The neighbors think the Johnsons will be a great addition to their street. However, the Johnsons see them as sad competition. They will woo, manipulate, and separate the neighbors. Can Jared and Emily take back Evergreen Lane?
This Haul Out The Holly sequel returns all the characters we know and love. Pamela is the queen of cookies, and Ned tries to be a yogi. Mary Louise stays on top of the latest craze while her husband, Bob, pours a strong drink. Emily and Jared's relationship is stronger than ever, and they joke about their past. Emily pays for fines with kisses, and Jared ensures that her old ways don't return. Unknown to Emily, Jared is on double duty. He is overseeing the Evergreen Lane decorations and preparing the perfect proposal. This movie reminds the viewers of the meaning of holiday celebrations. It's not about competition, but spending time together and having fun.

Christmas in Notting Hill - Review
Georgia flies to London to visit her sister, Lizzie. This visit is the first time they have seen each other in years. Lizzie promises to show Georgia a Notting Hill Christmas. Georgia looks forward to meeting Lizzie's boyfriend, but her boyfriend isn't at the apartment because he wants them to spend some sisterly time together. Georgia reveals a secret to Lizzie before their father arrives. An exciting program accepted Georgia's application at the University of Indiana for occupational therapy. Georgia applied for this program several times but never got in. Georgia is excited, but her boss recommended her for a teaching abroad program. She hasn't accepted Indiana's offer because she awaits to hear from the teaching program. Lizzie laughs in disbelief because she knows Georgia will make the safe and responsible choice: Indiana.
Soccer player Graham rewatches his injury video in rehab and worries about his future. He never thought of life beyond the field. Now, he agonizes that this injury will end it all. Graham's manager, Spencer, reassures Graham that Graham's knee will heal. Graham meets his brother, Henry, at a local pub. Henry shocks Graham because Henry says he is ready to propose to his girlfriend. Graham can't hide his lack of enthusiasm. Graham worries Henry is moving too fast. Henry bolsters that he wants this, and Graham shouldn't be afraid to make changes in his life.
Lizzie takes Georgia to a Christmas market but has to leave early because her boss needs her. Georgia finds a beautiful hand-painted ornament that reminds her of her deceased mother. The shop owner lets her have it, and Geroge leaves the market. Graham hides in his mother's booth at the Christmas market. But she uses his high profile to gain customers. Graham hastily leaves after taking pictures and signing autographs. He bumps into Georgia, causing her to drop her ornament and mess up her jacket. Graham offers to buy another, but the ornament is one-of-a-kind. He wants to help and says she can clean up at his mother's home. He promises he is not dangerous. Georgia follows Graham. He hides his soccer pictures as they enter the home. She cleans up her jacket and exits the home. Graham believes he will never see the mysterious woman, who knows nothing about his fame again. However, they are closer than they know.
This movie's storyline uses too much foreshadowing. Hallmarkies can piece the story together in the first 30 minutes. For example, Graham and Georgia discuss their siblings but never state their names. You will watch to confirm your hunches, not for entertainment. However, Georgia and Lizzie's bonding moments are cute and funny. Save this movie for background noise during your holiday decorating.
I give it 3 out of 5 stars
It's absolutely happening - Georgia
Please don't do it - Graham

Holiday Road - Review
Holiday Road - Hallmark - 2 hours and 0 minutes
Maya streams the departure board for her followers while updating them about seeing her family. She retakes her videos because other passengers keep walking into her shot. Dusty won't bend to the influencer's whims while Mr. and Mrs. Ling stare in confusion. Ember steps forward and looks at the board along with Trisha and Trisha's son, Ben. Dana views the screen and prays to make her snowboarding trip. Then, she and Trisha share their frustration and words of wisdom. Dana walks to a coffee shop and hears a man, Clay, requesting an elaborate drink order. She tells Clay that ordering something complicated is rude when a line is behind him. Clay informs Dana that his drink is simple. They part, hoping to never see each other again. The nine people return to the departure board and groan when the airline cancels all their flights due to the weather. Dana pulls Trisha, Dusty, Ember, Maya, Mr. Ling, and Mrs. Ling aside and suggests they rent a van together. They can share the driving responsibility and make their vacations.
They walk to the rental terminal and wait. The attendant tells Dana not to approach because the diamond customer gets priority. It's Clay, to Dana's surprise. The attendant warns Clay the rental company has one vehicle left, and it's massive. Clay doesn't care and orders it. The attendant tells everyone in line that the final car is gone. Dana and the group leave the airport to figure out plan b. When Dana sees Clay coming around the corner in a van, she jumps in front of the car and forces him to stop. Dana pleads her case to share a van with them. He is willing to help if she doesn't come. The group boards the van but can't ignore Dana sitting outside alone. They beg Clay to reconsider, and he relents. This group is going on a trip that will change their lives and holiday perspectives.
Inspired by actual events, this movie proves a stranger can become a friend. Surprisingly, this film gives each character a captivating backstory and a spectacular storyline. The story is difficult to follow because it introduces nine characters in 20 minutes. However, the movie makes up for this. As the characters connect, you learn more about their lives, why they are traveling, and their struggles. Every person makes assumptions about another. Their assumption was either wrong or misunderstood. This movie is captivating and offers the best holiday karaoke.
I give it 5 out of 5 stars

Letters to Santa - Review
Letters to Santa - Hallmark - 2 hours and 0 minutes
Enrique and Rebecca co-parent their children, Izzy and Sam, during their separation. They see a marriage counselor but have yet to make progress. Rebecca meets with her manager, Vanessa, and publisher, Mr. Hines. Rebecca is late with her next book. Now, her publisher is considering asking for their advance back. However, Rebecca doesn't have it. Enrique gave it to his mother, Camilla, without telling Rebecca because he thinks their family should help each other. That omission caused the riff in their marriage.
Rebecca and Enrique take their kids to a bookstore with a Santa. Santa gives them a gold magic pen when they disagree about what to ask for. He says whatever they write, they will get. Izzy decides to write a letter to Santa and asks for a puppy. Sam doesn't think it will work, but Izzy believes. She puts the letter in the mailbox and waits. Enrique finds a dog with a bow and no collar in the morning. They named the dog Noel. Enrique loves the dog, but it's another point of contention for Rebecca. She thinks he got the dog without asking or establishing boundaries. But it's too late to take it back. Soon, the kids ask Santa to do things to bring their parents together. Can Santa deliver?
While Santa remains a mystery to the family, the audience knows the people behind the curtain making Sam and Izzy's dreams come true. Each time they help, it drives another wedge between Rebecca and Enrique. Rebecca has someone to play devil's advocate for her. Enrique's sister, Maria, helps Enrique understand that Rebecca grew up differently. She was an only child and made decisions alone. However, Enrique's family raised him to make decisions by committee. This dynamic is a pivotal hurdle in their relationship. When they finally sit and have an honest discussion, everything comes to the surface for the better. This film may be tough to watch for a struggling family, but it's entertaining.
I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars

Catch Me If You Claus - Review
Avery's boss, Nancy, tells Avery she is not getting another shot at being an anchor. Avery is a great researcher, but she wants to handle the news like her famous mother, Sophie. Her latest story focuses on Mayor Hewitt and his labor dispute with Peter. Peter says Hewitt is lying about donations, but Hewitt says Peter is a disgruntled ex-employee. Avery's friend, Talia, suggests Avery mention her mother's name, but Avery refuses. She wants to make it on her own like Sophie. Avery calls Sophie for advice, and Sophie tells her the same thing another anchor said: Dress the part. She watches Avery put on a blazer and model it, but Avery is distracted. The news is reporting about a Santa Crook. He breaks into people's houses dressed as Santa and cracks their safe. Sophie hangs up so Avery can focus on the broadcast.
At the office Christmas party, Talia tells Avery that anchor Misty has laryngitis. The network is trying desperately to find someone to anchor the 5 a.m. Christmas broadcast, but no one is in town. Avery seizes the day and pleads her case. Nancy relents and says Avery can carry the broadcast, but she can't be late. Avery returns home, says hello to her neighbor's daughter, Becca, puts on a light therapy mask, and sleeps (FTC Affiliate Disclaimer). She wakes up after hearing a clatter in her living room. She sees a man and screams. He yells, trips, and knocks himself out. She ties the man up and tries to call the cop, but the storm ruins the reception.
The man, Chris, wakes up and huffs. He will be late for his deliveries, and his father will be furious. Avery laughs and accuses him of being the Santa Crook, but Chris says his father is Santa. He came to deliver a chemistry set for Becca. Avery informs Chris that Becca is her neighbor. Chris can't believe he sent the gift to the wrong house. He begs Avery to untie him so he can give Becca her present. Then, he hears his elf, Dylan, and the reindeer flying away. Dylan calls Chris's phone, but Becca snaps it in half. She agrees to deliver the gift to Becca, but only if she can keep an eye on Chris.
They accidently set off the silent alarm, and an unarmed security officer stops them. Chris, still bound, hotwires the officer's car, and Avery jumps inside. They drive away. Over the cops' radio, they hear Santa Crook has struck the Mayor's house across town. The police are looking for him. If the police spotted the crook across town, Chris couldn't be the burglar. She wants to follow the story and break it. Chris doesn't want her to track down the culprit alone. She plans to uncover the crook before the morning broadcast and report it. Chris wants to help her so he can deliver the world's gifts on time, but he has to make Avery believe he is Santa first.
This movie is a comedic mystery that hides the romance. Avery and Chris have a few hours to find the Santa Crook, clear their names, and uncover a story. At the same time, Chris has to convince Avery he is Santa and prove he can do the job to his father. Chris understands Avery's issues. She has to live up to a famous parent. They want to leave their shadow but have big shoes to fill. They give each other confidence and reclaim their name. This film has a love story, but the mystery separates it from the others and makes it fun.

A Season for Family - Review
Maddy Peterson wraps up work and heads home to help her son, Wesley, finish packing. They are leaving California to visit her parents. This year, Wesley asks Santa to give him a brother. Maddy adopted Wesley years ago but recently discovered he has a brother. She sent several messages to the adoption agency to track down the brother but hasn't found him. Maddy comes to town and walks into an outdoor shop. She wants to rent ski equipment for Wesley. Maddy knocks down a display and apologizes. The owner, Paul, takes pity on her. Paul's friend, Jeremy, can see the sparks between them. He helps Wesley obtain the correct gear and heads to his son's talent show.
Paul's son, Cody, plays the piano for the show, and Paul hopes this will bring Cody out of his shell. Since Cody's mother died, Cody became an introvert, and it worries Paul. The next day, Paul picks up Cody from ski practice, and Paul's sister, ski instructor Taylor, beams because Cody made a friend. Paul instantly recognizes Cody's new friend, Wesley, from the store. Cody begs to hang with Wesley. Maddy agrees, and Taylor offers to pick Cody up, so Paul says yes.
The boys spend almost every day together and enjoy each other's company. Then, Paul discovers that Madison isn't Maddy's first name. Her name is Rose Madison Peterson. Cody's adoption agency said Rose Peterson recently wanted to talk to Cody. Paul assumed Rose was his birth mother and said no. In disbelief, he tells Maddy. She gives him the backstory. But Paul doesn't want to continue. He made a promise to his deceased wife that he wouldn't tell Cody about the adoption until Cody was 10. Paul doesn't want to break his promise, and Maddy doesn't want to push. However, the truth will be the greatest gift she could give Wesley and Cody.
This HMM movie packs a punch. Viewers will understand both sides of this story. Wesley is the first person Cody connected to in a while. Paul fears the more time they have together will uncover the secret. He has to break a promise to his wife by telling Cody about the adoption and his sibling. It's a lot for any parent to handle. Also, Maddy has to keep Cody's lineage from Wesley. Wesley could let everything slip before Paul is ready. Both parents walk a tightrope while their children are oblivious. That is typical for most kids. This movie is a lot to handle but guarantees heartfelt tears and laughter at the conclusion.

Planes, Trains, and Christmas Trees - Review
Event planner Kayley watches a man, Brett, arrange the snow globes. When he walks away, she changes them back, but he sees her. She slinks away, hoping not to see him again. Then, she hears an announcement on the PA system. The airport is canceling all the flights because of a looming snowstorm. Kayley runs to a ticketing agent because she needs this flight to catch her connecting flight to New York. Kayley begs until the agent takes pity on her and tells her about another passenger heading to New York. He may be able to help her. The man is sports agent Brett.
Brett classifies Kayley as high-strung and offers to help her get to New York. He plans to drive there, but she thinks the train station is a better option. Brett will give Kayley a ride to the closest train station. But when they arrive, it's closed due to the weather. Brett will provide her with a ride to New York, but only if he can pick the music. Kayley agrees and gives Brett 4 minutes to use the bathroom. Brett returns before his time limit elapses, but the snow falls harder. He concludes that the roads are unsafe to drive, but his hometown is a few minutes away. Also, his uncle Eli will allow them to stay at his guest house until the storm is over. Kayley relents and goes to Eli's guest home but won't stay long. Will she get to New York, or will something else stop her?
This film is adorable, but you can see everything that's coming. Also, the title is deceptive. There aren't planes or trains in Kayley and Brett's future. Just Christmas Trees and lots of them. Kayley is trying to make it to a corporate event she planned earlier but is dodging her boyfriend's phone calls. And Brett wants to see his son in New York and avoid the town. He was a superstar high school football player, and people won't let him forget it. The plot makes amends for all the characters but doesn't captivate the audience. You expect a travel movie but get a 'stuck in a small town' story. Save this movie when you need to burn two hours.
I give it 2.5 out of 5 stars
I just like it when things go according to plan - Kayley
Now, you are just setting yourself up for failure - Brett

Holiday Hotline - Review
Holiday Hotline - Hallmark - 2 hours and 0 minutes
Abby dumps her boyfriend, Chef Jason after he takes credit for her famous Yorkshire pudding in an interview about his restaurant. She arrives at her parent's home, and they wish her a Merry Christmas. It dumbfounds Abby because Christmas is a month away. They think Abby needs to go to the United States for a change. Abby's aunt needs someone to watch her place in Chicago before she sells it. And they thought Abby would be a perfect fit. Abby loves the idea because her break from Jason means a sabbatical from cooking.
Abby lands in Chicago and makes her way to the entrance. She looks for the lift but can't find it. Her aunt's neighbor, Margaret, informs Abby that the building doesn't have an elevator. She grabs Abby's bags, updates Abby about the festivities, and takes Abby to her aunt's apartment. Abby tries the key, but the handle breaks off. A man, Jack, cringes. Jack and his brother, Mike, own the building's restoration company. And Jack knows that particular door knob will be hard to find. Abby believes he is overreacting, and Jack thinks she is aloof. Mike and Mike's fiancée, Erica, stop Jack before his head explodes over Abby's dismissive attitude. Erica tells Jack to be nice because Abby is her new neighbor.
Margaret asks Abby a bunch of questions about preparing a turkey. Later, Margaret admits she isn't cooking but testing. Margaret works for the Turkey Hotline. They help people with their desperate turkey and holiday questions. Thanksgiving is their Superbowl. Yearly, Margaret worked the hotline but now wants to spend the holidays with her family. Erica hints at the job, but Abby's cooking background makes her a better fit. Margaret corners Abby into a yes.
Abby's boss, Roger, introduces her to the staff and takes Abby to a desk. The calls come in, but everyone assumes Abby doesn't know how to cook a turkey because she is British. Roger suggests Abby take on an American persona for her calls. Abby changes her name to Peggy and switches her accent. Moments later, Jack calls but uses his birth name, John. His daughter, Jessica, misses having Christmas dinner at home like they did before her mother died. She enjoys the holidays with her grandmother, but being at home is a different experience. John only knows how to make reservations. So, Thanksgiving will be a trial period for the big day. Peggy promises to be there for him every step of the way. While Peggy and John connect, Abby and Jack get closer. What will Abby do when she realizes she is in love with John and Jack? What will she do when she finds out they are the same man?
This movie stands out this season. It is a rom-com, but it turns up the comedy. Each call is unique, and the problem ranges from ordinary to crazy. One person forgot to take out the giblet bag, and another had a turkey suck in the dryer. The director's camera work made these scenes funny and personal. Instead of doing a split screen, the director had Abby next to them with her headset and Great Britain flag coffee cup (FTC Affiliate Disclaimer). Viewers understood she was at her desk while making a lifelong bond with the caller. This choice makes John's love for Peggy believable, romantic, and unique. This movie will be a fast favorite this season.

The sisters jump for joy and call their family to revel in their success. Tori and June plan to hit the road and spend time with their family for Christmas Eve and Christmas. Usually, the music kept one or more family members on the road during the holidays. With all his ladies returning, Bones works extra hard to make everything perfect.
Later, Tony has an offer for them. Bobbi's Country Christmas Eve show wants Smith Jameson to play live. Tori and June watched that show every year. Since they were children, they dreamed of being on that stage. June doesn't want to do the show because it will hurt her husband, Justin, and devastate Bones. Tori convinces June to perform with a compromise. They won't be with their family for Christmas Eve, but they will make Christmas. And Tori must tell Bones. Their bandmate, Luke, didn't have holiday plans, so he is happy to work. Before they can tell Bones, he calls them. Tori's ex-boyfriend, Barrett, found a drunk and battered Justin in an alley. June wants to go home to see Justin, and Tori understands. They will return home and leave in time to perform the Christmas Eve show. But the problems they ran from are waiting for them on the ranch. Can the family overcome with the singing duo intact?
This sequel follows Smith Jameson traveling to Nashville to start the next chapter for their group, but old problems plague them, and new ones arrive. Tori walks a tightrope between Barrett and Luke. She knows Barrett isn't the man for her but doesn't want to give up her friendship with Luke. And she gets jealous when another woman starts paying Luke attention. Also, Tori considers going solo as June's family responsibilities pull her away. June deals with Justin's secrets because he lies about his finances and lashes out at her and her career. Bones has to deal with his daughters pulling away for business. He made that mistake in the past and now prays they don't do the same. He wants them to be successful, but not at the cost of their family or faith. While they are a famous family, their trials and tribulations are understandable and heartfelt to all viewers. A Merry Scottish Christmas - Review
Lindsay meets her brother, Brad, and sister-in-law, Sarah, at the airport in Scotland. Their mother, Josephine, planned a Scottish vacation for the holidays. They worry because Josephine hasn't coordinated a family trip in years. Sarah tells Brad to ignore his boss's phone calls because Brad is on Christmas break. However, the tax attorney doesn't want to abandon his clients. Lindsay has empathy because she is a general practitioner and runs a clinic. Although she sees more paper than patients, she checks into work often.
They arrive at the awestriking hotel as bagpipes play Christmas carols. The tour guide takes them through Glencrave Castle and tells them about Scottish history. Josephine pulls Lindsay and Brad aside to greet them and introduce them to the butler, Graeme. Graeme takes their bags to their room. Josephine wants to talk to them now, but Brad and Lindsay push it off until tomorrow morning, so they can settle in and focus on work.
Sarah stops Brad before he can make his first phone call. She asks if he will use this vacation to repair the bond between himself and Lindsay, but Brad thinks it's unfixable. Sarah asks Brad if he feels the same about their marriage or having children. They tried for years but had no success. And it is straining their relationship. Brad is unsure of everything.
Lindsay runs outside for a stronger cellphone signal and sees Mac admiring the Christmas lights on the castle. She looks at it and marvels at its wonder. He offers to show her around the property over the coming days because he manages it. Lindsay goes to her bedroom for the evening.
Lindsay sees Josephine head to the 4th floor, but the tour guide said it was off-limits to guests. So, Lindsay goes upstairs against Brad's vocal rejections. They discover a large bedroom with Josephine's sweater inside. They walk inside and find a scrapbook with a news clipping from Josephine's birth. It states that the Duke and Duchess of Glencrave gave birth to their baby girl, Lady Josephine. Josephine interrupts and explains.
Josephine was the eldest and in line to become a Duchess. However, she wanted a life without a royal title. She left Scotland to be with their American father, and her brother, Daniel, became the Duke. Josephine hasn't been to Scotland since then. She and Daniel wrote but tapered off. He died recently and had a wish in his will. He wanted Josephine to spend one holiday in the castle before deciding their fate. Josephine wouldn't consider taking the mantle because she left. However, it falls to Brad and Lindsay because Daniel didn't have kids or got married. They have until Christmas to decide if they want to take the title of Duke or Duchess and stay in Glencrave. If they choose to leave, someone will buy the family castle. Their decisions affect themselves, each other, and the town.
This movie has a romantic storyline for its main characters. However, it pivots the typical storyline for family bonds. Josephine needs to reconnect to the country she left. Brad and Lindsay must learn about their heritage, the town, and each other. And there are plenty of townspeople to help them stay. They learn about Scottish traditions, eggnog, and pride. They felt robbed of a life they could have known if Josephine stayed. It is delightful and heartwarming to see Lindsay and Brad find self-worth, honor, and hope by uncovering their hidden roots. The movie will have you clinging to the conclusion and jumping for joy. The welcomed storyline twist is one to watch and savor.
I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars
It must be something big - Brad
Maybe she just misses us - Sara
Wrong country - Lindsay
Nollaig Chridheil - Mac
