Dying in Plain Sight - Review
Morgan sits with her friend, Emmy, before going to a doctor's appointment. Morgan doesn't want to go but will do it to keep her mother, Kim, off her back. Morgan's doctor says Morgan is healthy, but she needs to lose weight. Morgan eats 25 points a day but doesn't see results. Morgan and Kim return home to grab items before a meeting. When Morgan takes too long, Kim runs inside to check on Morgan. Kim sees Morgan shockingly holding her father's phone. Kim grabs the phone and sees sexual text messages from another woman. Morgan's father, Nick, enters, and Kim tells Morgan to leave. Morgan cries in the car as Kim returns while Nick begs for forgiveness. Later, Kim has Nick's packed bags by the door.
Kim looks up Nick's mistress online and questions how she got a stunning body. In several posts, the mistress credits a fitness influencer's plan. Kim starts the plan and throws away 'unhealthy' foods. Morgan enters the kitchen and asks Kim why she threw away her 0-point yogurt. Kim explains that dairy increases LDL and tells Morgan to eat an apple instead. Kim joins a gym for herself and Morgan. Kim believes she is living her best life and saving Morgan from an unhealthy future. But Morgan is spiraling out of control for the perfect body, love, and acceptance.
For the first time, Lifetime covers atypical eating disorders. On the outside, Morgan looks overweight. So others applauded when she lost pounds, or they said it was not enough. To be clear, not everyone in Morgan's life has issues with her size. Emmy, and her teacher, Ms. Norris, shine a bright light on Morgan's intelligence and beauty. However, the voices online and at home hold more influence. Morgan keeps two food journals to hide the truth. This film reveals the doctor's mistake. He never tests Morgan for other issues. Instead, he focuses on the surface. And when Morgan reveals how long she has had problems, it will break your heart. Morgan's low self-esteem makes her vulnerable to a toxic relationship and drug use. Her hair falls out, her period stops, and her grades fall. This movie shows why body-shaming is horrible and its dire consequences. Parents, teens, and kids should watch.

A Party To Die For - Review
Sadie examines the price tags around her cousin's store and can't believe the prices people are willing to pay for a dress. Sadie's cousin, Briana, explains that the price tag can give people confidence. She challenges Sadie to try on a $2,500 dress. Sadie puts on the dress and looks at herself in the mirror as Owen walks inside. He compliments Sadie, and Sadie flirts. But she lies to him about her past and finances. He buys the dress for her and asks her out on a date. Later, their date goes well, and they plan to see each other again.
Sadie leaves Owen's home in the morning and returns to the store in the dress. She works the floor when Jessica enters and tries on some options. Jessica isn't sure about a dress, so Sadie takes a few pictures. Sadie and Jessica love the images, and Sadie asks if she can put them on the store's social media accounts. Jessica agrees and loves Sadie's style and confidence. Jessica invites them to a secret week-long Halloween party.
Sadie and Briana arrive at the party and meet Jessica and her friends. Sadie and Jessica are having a great time, but Briana hates that Jessica keeps lying. Eventually, Briana leaves Sadie behind. After a few nights out, Jessica wants a private party with Sadie and a new guy they met named Justin. Jessica tells Justin to follow a drunken Sadie upstairs, but he refuses because Sadie isn't attracted to him. Justin calls the situation crazy, but Jessica takes the comment personally and hits him in the head with home decor. Sadie panics and passes out. Sadie wakes up in the morning to Jessica making breakfast with Justin's body on the floor. Jessica tells Sadie that Sadie attacked Justin and killed him. They clean up the blood and hide Justin's body. Sadie wants to forget the night, but for Jessica, it's leverage. Can Sadie find a way out without going to jail?
Sadie finds herself in a hole but keeps digging. She lies about herself because her father is in jail and her mother died. Sadie moved for a fresh start but doesn't have the confidence to be herself. So she lies to everyone new and steals from Briana to keep up. This movie mixes Lifetime craziness with Inventing Anna. Each time Sadie falls, it will make you yell at the screen, but she isn't gullible. She learns to be authentic, calls out deceivers, and finds a new path. This movie starts wild, but the twist ending makes it worth watching.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars

The Boarding School Murders - Review
Frankie received unbelievable news. She got into Limoux Boarding School overseas. She is happy to leave her foster home and the bad memories of her father in the past. But Frankie hates abandoning her best friend, Trina. Frankie took the blame when Trina stole a bracelet from a department store. The police arrested Frankie, so she didn't believe she would get the scholarship. Trina gives Frankie the bracelet as a going-away present.
Frankie arrives and meets the headmistress, Ms. Ainsworth. Ms. Ainsworth lays down the law and shows Frankie to her room. Frankie unpacks as Jacqueline enters. Jacqueline admits she doesn't have friends and asks Frankie to be hers. Frankie loves Jacqueline's honesty and agrees to become friends.
Jacqueline tells Frankie where to sit in the cafeteria and points out the cool girls, Maria, Annabelle, and Tinsley. Tinsley is the leader and walks over with the followers in tow. Tinsley points out that her parents pay for Frankie's scholarship and calls Frankie her pet. Frankie puts Tinsley in her place, but Tinsley gets the last word. Frankie knows Tinsley and her cronies will be a problem but tries to make the best of a bad situation. Later, Frankie hears a scream outside of her bedroom. Everyone leaves their bed and finds Tinsley's dead body at the bottom of the steps. Annabelle and Maria instantly point their fingers at Frankie. Frankie has to prove her innocence before someone discovers her past and blames Tinsley's murder on her.
This whodunit is a challenging and worthwhile mystery. It will throw the most experienced Lifetimers for a loop. Please understand that the movie starts slow because the plot gives Frankie time to investigate. Of course, the detective isn't doing their job and only considers Frankie. Also, Tinsley's pack evolves in the script. They change from hell-bound monsters to productive women. As a warning, one scene will make you ill, but get past it for an intriguing mystery.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars
Where'd that smile go - Trina
We are pretty fireproof - Frankie

Love on Retreat - Review
LoveOnRetreat - UPtv - 2 hours and 0 minutes
Jenny opens a livestream on her laptop and performs a makeup tutorial for the 'Sennies.' Jenny is the assistant to the CEO of Senna, Gwen. Lately, Jenny has been a one-woman social media team. Gwen grabs her green juice from Jenny and walks to her office. Jenny gets her laptop and runs after Gwen. Jenny proposes doing live tutorials in their flagship store. Sennies can see the makeup on real women, not models. Gwen stops Jenny because Gwen plans on closing their flagship. Jenny's laptop rapidly dings. She didn't realize her livestream was still going, and the Sennies are furious. Jenny can't cut off the stream because the comments flood the connection. Also, she can't turn off her laptop because she will lose the activities list for the company retreat. Jenny decides to take it to IT and bumps into Nate. She assumes he works for IT and asks for help. Unfortunately, Nate turns off the computer. Nate is Gwen's younger brother and will be the activities director for the retreat. Jenny embarrassingly slinks from Gwen's office and runs to her friend, receptionist Lorraine. Jenny doesn't know how to handle the oncoming backlash and get a promotion to head a new social media department. Lorraine eases Jenny's fears and focuses Jenny's energy on the retreat.
At the retreat, Jenny approaches Gwen, sipping a green juice by the pool with Nate. Nate thinks it's unimaginable that Gwen has a vacation home. But she works too hard to enjoy it. Jenny tells Gwen she is ready for a promotion, but Gwen uses Jenny's latest blunder to prove otherwise. Also, Gwen has someone in mind for the director of social media. It's Brooke, Nate's ex-fiancée. Gwen wants them to get their relationship a second chance. However, Nate doesn't because Brooke left him at the altar. He didn't know Brooke was coming and quietly stews. Gwen says she will consider Jenny for the job if Jenny can find her zen and gain a work-life balance with Nate's help. Jenny agrees to Gwen's conditions and creates a plan for zen lessons. Nate laughs at Jenny because you can't schedule or learn zen. He loves to take life by the horns and throw schedules out the window. Nate will go to Thailand after the retreat, but that may change. He is falling in love with Jenny. Will she feel the same after learning about Brooke and getting an offer for her dream job at another company?
This movie starts comical but slows down to allow Jenny and Nate to connect. Their connection is believable and sweet. However, viewers know this bond of opposites. Jenny is buttoned-up and work-driven, and Nate is fun-loving and adventurous. They need to learn from each other to become the better version of themselves. Nate understands that mapping out the future isn't bad, and Jenny releases work stress and enjoys life around her. This film has excellent tips to inspire both types of people while giving you a genuine love story. Also, Lorraine is hysterical.
