Despite how the DDP proposed its plans to "keep the streets safe for the pedestrians", this shit still keeps on happening, because in our culture, we are NOT used to allowing the pedestrians on foot the right of way, and, crossing the streets is, simply, way too, dangerous in this country, as this example still, showed just, that! Off of the Newspapers, translated…
In Tanzi District, a ten-year-old school girl, Pan, while she was crossing the crosswalks to get to school, was HIT by the forty-two-year-old SUV female driver, the girl was hurt that she'd kneeled for a short moment in the middle of the road, the adult crossing guard of the school, Lai went to check on the child, and the locals were kind, taken out the cones to block the traffic from running the ten-year-old girl over, and notified the police. The child told her mother, that on the way to school, she was using the crosswalks, and got hit, and she'd still felt thrilled; the child's mother didn't press charges for now, the police fined Lai for not allowing the pedestrians the right of way, and revoked her driver's license for a year.
At seven in the morn, the fourth grade girl at Chiaozhong Elementary School, Pan was crossing from Fuxing Road Section one, she was focused on the right to see if there are, oncoming, traffic, didn't turn to the left to check, then immediately, run across the streets, and was hit by the SUV going straight on the left side, the child was hurt badly she couldn't get up, kneeled for a while in the traffic.
This was during school hour, and, many pedestrians and parents witnessed this, the crossing guard teacher who was working another intersection immediately came over, to stop the traffic, and the locals also put out the cone stoppers to encircle the scene of the impact, the driver, Lai who'd hit the girl went to see if the child was okay, the police and paramedics came and lifted the girl to Taichung Tsu-Chi Hospital.
this is, the result, of the driver's, NOT allowing the pedestrians the right of way! Photo from online
The Daya Substation stated, that Lai wasn't intoxicated, and the child had fallen down on the left side of her body, injured her left knee, and after the paramedics treated her, she was okay, and that they will be reviewing over the surveillance cameras on the streets, to clarify what had happened. After Lai hit the young girl, she'd stayed on site, and cooperated with the police, she'd claimed, that she didn't see the girl. The Tanzi Traffic Squad's officers found there to be no skid marks, no scratch marks on the roads, suspected that Lai did not slam on the brakes, will investigate further.
The police told, that Lai didn't let the pedestrian to have the right of way, that she'd caused the girl to be injured, she could get fined between $7,200 N.T.s and $36,000N.T.s. And the drivers who'd caused someone physical injuries also gets the license revoked for a year.
Considering how the driver did not allow the pedestrian to have the right of way, the Daya Police Substation started enforcing the laws of "pedestrians always have the right of way over the vehicles", to keep the school children, safe.
And so, this, is how well the traffic laws are, working out, it isn't, despite how the DDP government, proposed to keep the street safe, this shit still keeps on, happening, and, it is the driver's fault this time, as she was, driving too fast.
