Angel Studios did an excellent job portraying the life, struggles and accomplishments of the Italian-American nun Frances Xavier Cabrini, who started a new order in Italy, then came to America with all of her sisters, to help the poor and underserved immigrant population in the slums of New York. They started out in the worst possible place, the immigrant slums, known as Five Points.
This movie is very well-done portrayal of Mother Cabrini and the sisters of her order. I teared up often, not because of sadness, but because of Mother Cabrini's strength, and courage, and unwillingness to give up. She was not going to back down for any earthly reason, knowing in her heart that God was calling her to do a job, even if she had to learn how to "fight like a man" (i.e., using every bit of her strength and wits to outsmart all of the men who tried to shut her down.)
She was bold in her convictions, and strong in her love for the all immigrants, the orphan children especially, but also the underpaid workers, and families without access to medical care. She had serious health issues herself, but never let those keep her down for long.
My husband and I waited until senior discount day at the local theater, just to save a few dollars. There were probably only about 30-35 people in the theater, so it was a good movie experience all the way around. Also a lot of big name actors, which was interesting to see.
Mother Cabrini tore down many barriers with her fierce love determination, and you will find yourself inspired after watching this movie, realizing that the power of "one" becomes a huge force to be reckoned with, when God is behind it all. We are never a force of only one, when we live in God's Will!
