#NewComicsday and it's a great day to be a comic book enthusiast! The All C's Collectors Showcase was great and had an amazing weekend with the vendors and attendees. If you missed it, tables are available for the September Showcase now, get them now while you can. This week Marvel finishes Thrawn & Vader and Ultimate X-Men gives us issue #2. DC Black Label has Batman First Knight #2 as Image sings you a Napalm Lullaby and introduces us to Rat City. We've got five stacked high ready to fly!
Transformers #7> NEW STORY ARC
WHO WILL LEAD THE DECEPTICONS?
After last issue's shocking ending, Starscream and Soundwave battle for leadership—and the result will change the Decepticons forever.
And the Autobots learn they may have more allies than they imagined…
JORGE CORONA joins DANIEL WARREN JOHNSON to begin the Energon Universe story that will have everyone talking! (S) Daniel Warren (A) Mike Spicer, Jorge Corona
Smurfs Take> The first story arc was a smash hit for me. It took all of my expectations and threw them out the window, I would never have expected another Transformers title to be this good. Something different, something for the diehard fan, something will you not be disappointed in picking up. Now what's next? We are way outside the box here and most of all no one is safe, and best of all Jorge Corona has joined the book. This just keeps getting better and better.
Aliens: What If #2> WHAT IF…CARTER BURKE HAD LIVED? Thirty-five years after the disaster on Hadleys Hope, company man Carter Burke is eeking out a cursed existence on a backwater asteroid. With his once-promising career in the toilet, Burke's only remaining purpose in life is to care for his daughter, Brie. She hates him, probably for being a horrible person. And when she finds out what he's up to now? It's not going to be a friendly reunion. Has Burke learned his lesson, or is he about to get all of his companions killed again (S) Hans Rodionoff (A) Guiu Vilanova
Smurfs Take> The surprise mashup that I didn't know I needed. This film was one of my all-time favorites to begin with and now we're going down the rabbit hole of what if. Great first issue, it kind of reads like a director's cut and what could have been if a few choices were made differently. Can't wait to see how much worse it gets for everyone.
Green Lantern #10> With Hal's ring newly recharged, he leaves Earth for Oa to uncover the mystery surrounding the Central Power Batteries, while Carol makes a choice that will change her destiny forever! Plus: Kevin Maguire joins Green Lantern architect Jeremy Adams to tell the tale of Guy Gardner, the United Planets, Lobo and… Wrestling? It's Guy's Bogus Lobo Adventure part 1 of 3! (S) Jeremy Adams (A) Xermanico, Kevin Maguire
Smurf Take> This has been so much more enjoyable than the last few series for GL (yes, even the Grant stuff) as we finally get into space, an unexpected reunion and a major reveal. Now comes the fun stuff as we get a whole new batch of lanterns, finally a story the Green Lantern readers and fans can come back for.
Incredible Hulk #11> HULK SMASHES FROZEN CHARLOTTE ONCE AND FOR ALL! The monstrous, ethereal, demonic/angelic Frozen Charlotte has plagued New Orleans for centuries, and it's high time to put a stop to it. And Hulk is just the guy to do it. Plus, Eldest makes another tempting offer to Bruce Banner… (S) Phillip Kennedy Johnson (A) Daniel Earls
Smurfs Take> The monster direction on the title has been great and has an EC feel about it. While I like the Hulk on the run, I would still like to see a bit more development of what's going on with everything else. A little time in one spot long enough to expand the story would be great and add to an already good arc.
Thundercats #3> As the wary ThunderCats continue to explore their new home, Lion-O finds himself inexplicably drawn to Calica, the beautiful and mysterious survivor of the crashed Mu'Tant ship. But Panthro and Cheetara view the unfamiliar Thundarian with suspicion, and the ensuing confrontation threatens to fracture their fragile new society - leaving them vulnerable to enemies from both outside and within!
The drama intensifies in this third chapter of the highly anticipated new series from award-winning author DECLAN SHALVEY (Old Dog, Hero Killer) and fan-favorite illustrator DREW MOSS (Gargoyles: Dark Ages) - both of whom contribute a cover for the issue along with acclaimed artists DAVID NAKAYAMA, LUCIO PARRILLO, and JAE LEE & JUNE CHUNG! (S) Declan Shalvey (A) Drew Moss (CA) David Nakayama
Smurfs Take> It continues to feel like an episode from the cartoon and I'm not saying that as a bad thing. Only two issues in and I'm eager to see how they expand on characters. Where some of the other revisit series needed to start fresh this title didn't really need that and avoided a huge pitfall by choosing the direction they did.
