For many years I collected various things and built some solid collections. I had stopped doing it for several years lately and recently have gotten the bug to do it again. I have a significant collection of Hot Wheels, GI Joes (12 Inch) from the 1960's and 70's, 1980's Micro Machine cars and trucks and tons of sports memorabilia. My favorite collection is the micro machines as I began to collect them in the 1970's and have picked them up along the way the last 40-50 years. They generally are highly available and not very pricey but I still love them.
Recently I have gotten back into the Hot Wheels things but only buy and collect the ones that appeal to me. I am not into the going to stores and trying to find the most collectible ones or the so-called treasure hunts. I just like the more classic built cars from the 1960's, 70's and 80' look. The newer ones like the fast and loud cars are not my thing but they are pretty cool looking. As for the GI Joes, they are my favorite and are now very expensive and not as easy to find. When you find one they can be upwards of $150-$200 for a single Joe. I also like to find and collect Big Jim, Six Million Dollar Man and other iconic action figures.
I have lots of baseball, football and basketball cards mostly from the 1970's and 1980's. Some of those are pretty rare and harder to find so they are tucked away. I am a huge fan of Big Foot so I do have a significant collection of Big Foot stuff that I have bought over the years. And the last piece of the collection puzzle is anything Star Wars, Marvel and DC comic. My wife tells me I need to sell some stuff and probably do. One day she can have a yard sale and someone else who loves that stuff will get a heck of a deal on a classic GI Joe, Hot Wheel or baseball card at a major discount.
