This has certainly been one of our better weeks. I am going to make an outrageous statement, don't let your kids listen to cover songs. I woke up from my nap, yes, I took a nap this afternoon. I rarely nap. I woke up and the kids were listening to a copy band of We Didn't Start The Fire. My response was that it was not Billy Joel, and no, the Fallout Boy version is not good. I instructed Alexa to bring up Billy Joel. My husband immediately corrected me that it was The Boss. I corrected him that Bruce Springsteen's song In Dancing in the Dark, has the phrase You can't start a fire sitting 'round crying over a broken heart.
I went through their MP3 players and created a playlist of the original stars. I fully understand that the copy version is a nod to the original artist, this was a slap across the face to Billy Joel. My husband laughed I thought it was Bruce Springsteen. I gasped, it was all the Grateful Dead you have listened to over the years. I mean the Dead has a few classic, enduring songs, but some shows and CDS are bad. I am one of those people who can't tolerate a bad session. There was a time when I lived in a flat with a country band above me. I learned to have a really good system to drown out the bad. One evening, they were playing a particularly horrible set. I went upstairs with my toddler on my hip and told the band, you need to do this and that to correct the sound.
Back to the beat of the homestead, our new chickens like to escape their "toddler" pen. They will go to the grownup henhouse in the Fall.
Today's work was making cottage cheese from marked down milk. I live in Dairyland. There are times such as yesterday when I found 15-cent gallons of milk. I bought 3 for cottage cheese and yogurt. That is a tremendous savings.
I planted several pepper plants. We are still having issues with the dog with the lousy dog parents. We have needed to replant 10 beds. I am back to managing the properties of the rental properties that are problematic. They were sold and the owners thought they didn't need my services. They have learned that they do my services. There have been many complaints from property owners. I formatted a letter that deals with the rental that has people living in the garage. Everyone has signed it. We will be presented to their landlady because activities are happening that are a liability. I had the deputy serve her. I am one of the few people that has been able to get her to clean up that property in the decades she has owned. I have a tone that makes people do what they are supposed to.
Our contractor brought so much drama into my life. The neighbors on the Eastern slope have tried to bring me into it. We were halfway into the teardown of the roof when I was brought into their vendetta. I would have put my foot down had I known the extent of it. I went over to speak to the wife. I informed her that I did not expect to have any issues with her, we needed to have our roof done. I told her exactly what I knew about them and what I found to be true. I am not going to have any more problems with them. They were throwing eggs as the contractor was trying to fix my fence. I demanded that she come over and clean up the mess off our gate, my flower box, and my delivery box. I explained that I do not consider either side to be very reputable people. I gave her the choice of cleaning or I will call the deputy.
Our dog Stella is deeply in love with our neighbors down the street. The dad ran and she was whining for him to take her. So, off they went. Our back neighbors have a Golden that comes to visit our Golden Doddle.
