It seems far too many people today are struggling with feeling like they have it "all together". I keep reading articles, tweets, and desperate social media cries echoing fear of failure in today's society. It's become a reverberating scream for help. What the fuck has this country done to us?
We played by their "rules"in one facet or another. Most of this generation went to college, some of us joined the workforce during adolescence, for one reason or another, yet here we all stand, or crawl, in the same struggle to feel successful, capable, and whole. What did we miss? What hidden piece of government garbage did we overlook to be included in the ease of existence within this nation?
I'll say, for me, at least, I lack the discipline I need to get myself to a place of financial responsibility. To be fair, it would require literally starving myself for an extended period of time in order to get myself to where I dream of being. I like eating. Therefore, my innate stubbornness takes over and here I am. You could equate this to my resistance to higher education, however, those I know with said background, too, struggle.
I may have fought against the current of the fluctuating extremes over the past few years, but I am not alone. I cherish quite a few friends whose diligence towards a solid future was unwavering, yet, as mentioned, they too feel the strife of today. And all are related to financial security. If you lack it, I've noticed, it's primarily due to that individual choosing life over a career with a high income that can only be attained through endless sacrifice of time and genuine happiness. If you do have it, how much have you sacrificed to hold on to it? Balance? Friends? Family? Love? Or even just having a chance to live? Either way you go you're fucked. So where does that bring us?
How can we, as a generation, find solace in our situation and rise above the demands of a government that no longer supports us? How can we establish a balance within our existence to be able to enjoy the time we are given without creating a world of misery attempting to reach unattainable dreams? And, most importantly, how can we find acceptance within our current positions and generate our own happiness by expanding beyond the confines of what is deemed the "right way to live"?
How have you removed the shackles of society and learned to embrace your life for exactly what it is? Where was the point of disconnect for you that gave you the freedom to live guilt and worry free? I am exceedingly curious how a few of you have actually gone unscathed. Help a girl out. Then I can pass the word and allow others to break free. Show us the light! Be that advocate and tool for positive change. Share your secrets! Seriously. Don't be a happiness hoarder. Give up the goods. Allow others to benefit from your wise words. We're desperate!
