I decided to use an online accredited program with programs in all 50 states. Our satellite school system closed this May. We have been moved to a new district. I noticed that the children's credits were not correct. They earned 6.50 credits for Freshman year. The credits were not correct. Last night, I noticed the credits were completed and posted correctly.
The parent and student share responsibility to make sure appropriate classes are taken and to reach out when things are correct. There are many Seniors who arrive at Senior year short a requirement or two for graduation.
Homeschooling parents of younger students have greater responsibilities to assist their students in developing good work and study habits. Overall, I have found it easy to homeschool the children, of course, we have days that aren't great. We may have issues with the internet, a skill may not sink, or the kids are simply being kids. Then, you have those moments where you see in your child's face, and you see that they get it.
Our neighbors came to visit yesterday afternoon. It has been a year since they have seen the kids. Our son had grown 6 inches over the past year. Our daughter has become very politically minded. Our kids were discussing with our neighbors about various religions. Of course, the Latter-Day Saints were walking up the driveway. Our neighbor is an atheist. So, our neighbor decided to argue with the missionaries. Our son is very analytical, he asked our neighbor if he had read the bible. Our neighbor confessed he hadn't and said he had a very bad childhood. They discussed condemning something that you have never read.
At the end of the visit, our neighbor commented on how articulate the children presented themselves. Those are the moments that you strive to achieve as a homeschooling parent.
