Hi read, How are you today? How is the start of summer for you and yours? My radio silence for the past month is because I got sick for 3+ weeks. On top of all the craziness of the end of the school year, my 13-year-old lovingly shared strep throat with all of us. And for me, it eventually morphed into bronchitis, two ear infections, and a sinus infection. Ugh! Finally on the mend! I was completely out the first week and then functional, but not well, for the following 2+ weeks. Let me share a few things that helped me, especially in that first week. Sharing the mental load. Although my husband was sick, he was not nearly as sick as me. He took over almost everything outside of a few things my young boys took on. We also often host the boys' good friends on the final day of school for swimming, pizza, fun, etc. Another mom took that over this year, knowing how lousy I felt. I was so relieved that the boys had fun without my having to manage things. Shifting carpool duties. You might have heard me say before that I couldn't do what I do without carpool. My fellow carpool parents took over all the duties. My husband and I didn't do any drop-offs or pick-ups for 3 days. And then my husband helped for a day. Resting. A lot. I am not great at being still. I also struggle with my sleep routine. I took loads of naps. Really, I couldn't help it. I was exhausted. My point, though, is that I didn't power through. While some things worked, I realized I needed to make some changes. Let me share three things I'm changing in the coming weeks and months. I will work to: Create new digital assets. I have been wanting to get out of the time for money formula, but I lost focus on that during the spring, which was full of kids' activities. It's time to refocus on creating digital content that I can sell. More on this soon! Repurpose content. I have loads of content on the Mompowerment website and LinkedIn. I need to get better at putting that content in other places, especially if I can monetize it on other platforms. Retool my sleep routine. I have a sneaking suspicion that part of the reason I was sick for so long was that I was worn down. In the spring, I had fallen off the wagon of being consistent with my sleep routine and bedtime. It's time to retool my sleep routine and treat it with more respect! What helps you when you're under the weather? How do you bounce back? Suzanne PS Kids heading off to camp?
