This is still all, HINDSIGHT, on the tragic drowning DEATHS, of two young girls who'd followed their mother, who'd, married to a family here, off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
The woman who married over from China, Chien took her two young daughters into the streams for a swim, the two children drowned. The elementary school teacher of the girls told, that the two young sisters adapted to Taiwan very quickly, were doing well in school, and made a lot of, friends in the classrooms, there's nothing out of the ordinary with them; the experts believed, that the immigrants are living under a lot of pressures, there are a ton of resources offered to help them adapt to living here, it's on whether or not these immigrants want to receive the assistance, in the summers, the children have more times with their own parents, and, emotional control became a huge, challenge.
The two young girls originally studied in China, came to Taiwan last year, the parents would take them to school by rotations, and one is entering the fifth grade after the summer, the younger, into the third grade, as the school instructors and fellow classmates learned about the tragedy, they all felt, really, sad. The principal of their school told, that the sisters are excellent academically, the parents showed a ton of care and concerns for them, and are also, very active in communicating with the children's, teachers.
The neighbors told, the sisters were cute, their grandparents were gentle toward everybody, they'd never heard any arguing. The man in charge of the borough called, the grandmother of the girls cried, "they were so well-behaved, and we loved them dearly, can't believe they're, both, gone now!", and can't understand what drove her daughter-in-law to suicide. The man in charge of the local borough told, that the children are very well-behaved, and connected with the elders in the neighborhood well, that he'd seen them with their parents in the activities, they were brought to the activities their grandparents.
The C.E.O., Chiao of the Keelung Multicultural Development Organization told, that every generation of immigrants have different challenges, and pressures, leaving their home countries early in life, with nobody to assist them in a new country, but now, there are a ton of resources being offered, "the key is whether or not these immigrants are willing to ask for the assistance", if not, or the individuals don't have a big enough social circle, then, the route of asking for assistance is then, severed off, if there are someone that the individuals can talk to, then maybe, the individuals can change their, minds.
The parenting and education expert, Liao told, the girls were too young to note any danger, whether if you're from Taiwan, or had immigrated to Taiwan, you will need connections with others, to find that emotional support, if the individuals feel isolated, then, the feelings of despair would increase.
The former C.E.O. of the Care Management Foundation of Taiwan, Chang told, during the semesters, the children have the schools to help discover if there's something wrong with the home to sought help, but in the summers, the parents are at home long-term with the children, emotional management became a big challenge, the teachers don't see the students, and if the neighbors aren't tightly knit enough, the risks get, even higher.
The Social Services of Hsinbei told, that the family isn't of the social welfare assisting statuses, nor were there any reports of domestic violence, of the families being "at risk" on file.
And so, this still goes to show, that the signs are, easily, missed, because this woman left her home country with her two young children, she must've felt isolated, and helpless at times, that was what drove her to attempt suicide, and, the children adapted to life here easily, because they're very young, and, that's how the school missed the signs of what's happening at home, and, there may be enough free help offered to these, newly immigrated, but, they may not be willing to, or know how to, sought out help from the social services, and, sometimes, it takes tragedies like these, for this topic to come up to the surfaces, to make the world know, that we need to, pay attention to everybody and everything that's going on around us, because, someone may be in need of our, assistance, but the individual doesn't necessarily, show it.
