Getting conned, by a trusted, employee, and now, she doesn't, trust any immigrants anymore…off of the Newspapers, translated…
I went to the cafeteria to purchase the foods, the female owner of the shop whom I was acquainted with poured her heart out to me, told me that the Vietnamese woman who married here, Le had, scammed two million dollars N.T. from her.
Le was originally an employee of hers, agile, quick, gained the trust of the female owner of the cafeteria. One day, Le told her she'd wanted to purchase the land back home in Vietnam for investment, that Vietnam is in its economical boom right now, a ton of Taiwanese companies had gone over there to set up the manufacturing plants, that the land will grow in value in the futures, and suggested that she put in the money with her, to make the huge sums of money, that it totally beats working the long hours, operating a cafeteria.
The owner originally was, hesitant, but, eventually, she gave in, to Le's persuasion, thought that Le is hardworking and genuine, there should be no problem. She'd put up two million dollars N.T. total for Le to invest, waited for the land to start making the money for her.
But, shortly after Le got her hands on the money, she'd, vanished, and the female owner of the cafeteria couldn't get a hold of her, started getting agitated, in the end, she'd gone to Le's home to find her. And that was when she'd learned, that Le had, escaped back to, Vietnam already, that her husband and his family didn't know where she is now.
"I'd put my trust in her, treated her like she was my own daughter, how could she, scam me?", the female owner of the cafeteria got more and more upset as she'd told. After this hit, she'd, become, completely, destroyed, thankful that her daughter-in-law took over the cafeteria, and the two of them, mother and daughter-in-law made it work, hoped to make up for the two million dollars N.T.s that had been conned from her.
After this, the female owner of the cafeteria started, distrusting the migrants, especially toward those from Vietnam. I'd told her, that Le was the exception, that most of the migrant women are, kind and righteous, they are all working hard, for their, lives on this island. I'd also told her, that in the future, anybody asks you to pull money from your own pockets, that someone has a great investment ventures to sell you on, just, tell them, no, to NOT trust anyone, that she must, keep all her money to herself.
So, this is how you stopped, trusting your own self, because you got conned, and, you think you are, smarter than that, and the Vietnamese migrant used your greed, tempted you on the get-quick-rich investment ventures, and you'd, fallen for it, because you wanted to make the money quick, when in reality, every dollar you make, is from the hard work you put in, and, this is an important lesson that this woman who owned and operated that eatery needed to, learn.
