Happy Friday! Today's topic is one that I've researched quite a bit before doing, and I wanted to share how it's working for me!
Zone cleaning is not a new concept. You divide the house into four to five zones that make sense. Bedrooms and bathrooms are often grouped together. I chose to use Flylady's zones, where the Master bedroom suite is set apart from the other beds and baths. I also wanted a full week for my kitchen! Each week gets a concentrated zone; therefore, all the house is on a rotation throughout the month. It takes 15 minutes to a half hour daily to clean those areas, and your cleaning schedule is done for you!
This type of cleaning is working well for me. I have a large house to clean, which is a wonderful problem, so please don't think I'm complaining. I just needed to come up with some strategies to stay on schedule with said cleaning. Many of my neighbors hire a professional cleaning company to come in weekly. I'm not willing to do that, but I still want a clean home.
I like zone cleaning because I know it's only been a month since I tackled any area. That means I can dust and do monthly chores while staying on schedule for those things. I also know that if I miss something that needs cleaning, it will get done the next month. I keep a list of what needs cleaning in each area, and also look to see what's not clean there. Again, it doesn't take too long each day, and that means I'm more likely to do the chores!
This past week, I concentrated on the master bedroom, bath, and closet. I vacuumed the whole set of rooms, dusted some hard-to-reach areas, changed sheets, and cleaned the tub. In total, I spent minutes on these chores, and I feel like the rooms are ready for another month! Next month, I may declutter and clean the ceiling fan if needed.
I pray that you are not struggling to keep your house clean. And I pray that zone cleaning may be a potential solution. I pray this finds you well and healthy, too!
Stacy
