Hey Everybody!
Welcome to a random Wednesday evening off of work. Boy am I sore from the past three nights of being the only one to finish out the night.
Since I came back to Grocery, four months ago, the future and what I am working towards has been weighing on me. That has been a common theme the past couple of years with dealing with chronic undiagnosed illnesses. I have been seeing doctors for over two years now and I am still no closer to answers as I was when I was in the hospital more than two years ago.
Being able to come home, have a home of my own, be a homemaker, making more homemade food and playing around to really see what foods are effecting me and making whatever is going on with me worse. Working a full time job at a grocery store hasn't helped any, as I am always tired and in pain still.
That being said, I am doing what I can, and trying to eat healthier, more fresh fruit and vegetables, less gluten and sugar and staying away from dairy. I would eventually like to go Gluten Free again. Right now though, I am just trying to minimize the amount of gluten that I eat.
I am also trying to be more frugal and conscious of my spending. When I was at my last store it was easier to go shopping at work after I finished my last shift for the week. Now that my schedule is different, and I feel like I am able to get more sleep, I am able to go shopping on on of my days off and shop elsewhere besides work, since where I work is more expensive than other stores.
I was able to get three bags of groceries, more Kleenex, some distilled water, and toilet paper for about $130. That is definitely cheaper than at work, even with my discount. I am find a lot of the foods I like from work at these other stores.
Today, since I was off, due to my schedule being altered this week for coverage, I went to Bob's Red Mill. It is a local flour, and whole grains company that also has the best gluten free flours and oatmeal selection that I am aware of. We also stock a lot of Bob's Red Mill products where I work.
With making lifestyle changes, I am trying to eat more local foods, and buy from local places and farm stands and such, as this has always been the goal. The goal just hasn't always been achievable.
