They say everything happens for a reason. Alexis was a firm believer of this sentiment. As time passed Alexis threw herself into her marriage. After meeting Alexander, she had a new look at Brian's situation. Alexis would dare say it helped her forgive him. She felt the high of being noticed by an attractive stranger, and when you are not at your best it is easy to get sucked in.

Now, Alexis was determined to take her mother's advice. She did everything she could do to make Brian happy and surprisingly the lack of conflict made her happier as well.

Alexis sat at the dinner table with Brian as they discussed the events of their day. It wasn't until he brought up a grocery store run that she thought about something. Alexis had not bought any feminine products in a while. She looked at the calendar and counted back the days. Her fork hovered over her plate.

"Something wrong?" Brian asked, stuffing another mouthful of spaghetti into his mouth.

"My period is late," Alexis replied, nearly making Brian choke on his food. Alexis stood and went into her room and pulled out a pregnancy test. Alexis had wanted kids for a long time and kept some on hand just in case.

Brian was pacing on the other side of the door. After a few minutes Alexis came out and held up the stick. in dark letter it read, pregnant. Brian picked up Alexis and kissed her. Sometimes life is full of happy little surprises.
