In case you need a digital escape…
| | Lord, Deliver Me From The Office's Addictive Mobile Game | | One heady summer – pre-kid – I spent an incredible amount of time playing Kim Kardashian's mobile game. And so I'm really cracking up at Katie Arnold-Ratliff's confessional piece about her dedication to… a mobile game recreating The Office.
Yes, she knows your jaw just dropped a little: "I put off way more important stuff to crack the whip on a bunch of people-shaped pixels that vaguely resemble actors in a show I like. (God, when you say it like that, it really does sound insane.) It's an effective way to waste time and mental energy, frittering away minutes I'll never get back for no real reason."
Honestly, though, there's something to be said for the brainless ten-minute bathroom break away from your kids and/or your job, and better a mobile game than Instagram, where I always seem to end up buying something completely ridiculous. (No, Kelly, you don't need those shoes.) What's your digital escape? Let me know, because I need new ones before I get sucked back into Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, entirely against my will: HiScaryMommy@bdg.com.

| | | | | | THE 411 | Non-Binary Baby Names Are On The Rise. Here's Why. | | Interested in non-binary baby names? Arielle Tschinkel has answers: "Whether or not nonbinary names will tip naming trends on a large scale remains to be seen, but there are plenty of reasons why new parents might favor a truly gender-free moniker for their little ones — even if they do plan to keep other binary-based customs, such as referring to their son or daughter as such." | |
