Business in the Community (BITC) are seeking provider referrals for an initiative that matches vulnerable and older people with volunteer mentors to bridge the digital divide.
What is the programme?
ClickSilver Connections is an intergenerational programme which helps to bridge the digital divide between young and old through the sharing of skills and knowledge. BITC matches eligible participants with business volunteers to provide one to one virtual support over a 4-week period with calls typically lasting 30minutes – 1 hour (one call a week).
The programme is looking to support people:
• classed as vulnerable, with a keen focus on 50+
• Isolated, lonely, suffering from digital exclusion
• Lacking digital skills, unable to access any digital support services
All mentors are Enhanced DBS checked through our secure provider uCheck.
How do I get involved?
BITC is looking for approved referral partners. The organisation wants to partner with groups who can refer their participants on to its programme planned from September to December 2022.
To take part you will need to identify a lead from within your organisation who will identify and register participants, ideally aged over 50 and those who already have a device be it smartphone/laptop/desktop etc. In exceptional circumstances we may be able support providing a device.
The programme is free for both providers and participants. If you require any further information or would like to discuss partnering, please contact julie.cullen@bitc.org.uk
