This is a time to quiet your heart before the Lord. It's time to withdraw a little from the clamour of urgencies, to quiet our heart, to enjoy His silent embrace until the mind stops racing, then to listen and record fresh Rhema. "Write in a book all the words I have spoken to you." (Jeremiah 30:2b)
Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God! I will be honoured by every nation. I will be honoured throughout the world". NLT Another version says "Let be and be still, and know (recognise and understand) that I am God".
"The Kingdom of God is Righteousness, PEACE and joy in the Holy Ghost." I believe this is a way to receive this peace from the Lord (which is always ours in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Friend). But sometimes it may seem to elude us in the busyness and challenges and disappointments of life.
"be still" = to let go; to be quiet; to relax, to withdraw; to let drop.
As one minister so aptly put it; this 'be still' is not about going to a quiet room and then allowing our minds to keeping running on with worries and concerns. (I certainly have done that many times).
It's about withdrawing/being quiet, not only physically but also letting our minds and emotions focus on our Lord and Friend. Allowing our hearts to be settled in His wonderful Presence; knowing He is well able to take care of all our needs and concerns! He is Good, Wise, all Powerful and Father God Who is Faithful and full of mercy and love! His promises are "yes and amen".
Let's take time to do this.
'Surrender your anxiety. Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God"
