| Homemaking in the Dunes Oct 14 | This is the Eclipse from this morning. I had forgotten about it. I was doing the morning homestead chores. The animals needed to be fed. The eggs gathered. The goats milked. I was harvesting the tomatoes and kale. I brought a casserole and soups to my neighbors who are sick with Covid. They had returned from their overseas trip. We will be heading off for our trip to Maine in a bit, we are taking a different route this trip. I have been fairly quiet on here the last couple of days. My mother is getting transferred from her current assisted living home to her home next week. There were 37 pages of forms to be filled out. I wrote a detailed Psych/social history. I spent a few hours on the phone talking to my mother talking to her about meal preferences, wants, and needs. My approach to this has been as a mental health professional. We already had an issue with management trying to make decisions for our family. I immediately set the limit that no my adult daughter DOESN'T want to transport her grandmother and do the paperwork. I set the limit that I would do the paperwork and they would move her. I was told from the very beginning they would handle the move. I have learned that people will treat you the way you tell them to treat you by the things you allow. It took me two days to fill out and scan the documents. I canned another 30 jars of tomatoes and 10 jars of salsa. I am making goat cheese and coconut milk yogurt. These are waiting activities. I used up the rest of my sourdough starter. I made our sandwich bread for the week. I baked the English muffins for a week. I made 20 jars of applesauce. The canners are processing now. | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
