The tally for 17 days of travel was 3,325 dollars. Thus rounds out to about 195 dollars a day. The most expensive part of the trip was the AIR BNB rental. It was also the most stressful part of the entire trip. The rental was half the cost of the entire trip. We could have done better on our food budget, however in the South I found it difficult to find a grocery store. I will never use AIRBNB again. It is extremely over priced and often property isn't as advertised. The AIRBNB charges a cleaning charge regardless. The host demaned an additional 200 cleaning charge because we had teenagers. We were hit with a 400 dollar charge yesterday. I ma so glad that I go pro the house at the start of our stay and what the house looked like when I left. I didn't do the sheets, vaccuming, or towels because that is the host responsibilty.
If I had a choice I would have not stayed at the AIRBNB however, we paid for the week and she wasn't going to drive me out. I have since found out since we returned home from her neighbor, she had returning customer that wanted to stay our week and 2 additional weeks. She lost that booking because she couldn't drive me out. The neighbor called me because she thought I should know. I will tell you this that woman won't be able to rent a dumpster by the time I am done. She made a serious error screaming at me, calling me dirty nasty names that most ladies wouldn't say.
We had many difficulties in our hotel booking. Several booking were sent to a different hotel location. I had booked these through expedia and had printouts. It is very stressful when you arrive at hotel in the middle of the night and there isn't a reservation waiting.
Foodwise the way we shop, I can and freeze, raise our meats, and where we live we eat far better for less than we would in other areas of the country. Hotel breakfasts were dismal this trip. The standard breakfasts were carbs and low quality fruit. The best breakfast was at Comfort Inn in Topeka Kansas. We had whole grain choices, fruit, fruit salad, eggs made fresh, bacon, yogurt, and GOOD COFFEE. Coffee makes or breaks my morning.
