| apartfromacademics Jan 8 | Today was a very lazy day. Didn't feel like doing anything but still completed office work and also viewed a small glimpse of a complete course about "Salary Negotiation" by "Havard University". A free glimpse of 20 mins is available for everyone to watch and have a basic sense. That's what I watched today. In that 20 mins what I understood is that being aware of how much a company needs us as an employee is really important, so that we can upvalue ourselves. In the concluding video of the course a hockey player was cracking his next contract and what he was getting as first offer was 15 times more than what he was currently earning. Then he remained silent and then again the manager(who was negotiating the contract) updated the value of the contract, still he remained silent and then again the manager updated the value and the player agreed with a secure job for his dad, a car for his girlfriend and 3 million dollars. He deserved all this and he got it by being silent at the moment and constantly working on his ability. So today's learning: "Sometimes being silent works more than explaining yourself."
