There is an old saying, ''the poor will always be with us''. One thing I have realised - rammed home after two years in The Gambia – is another equally valid Truism: ''The Chore will always be with us''. And overall – it's twenty years next month since I started blogging – two decades of commenting online suggest a third certainty as we head into what are highly likely to prove the most dangerous months of my 77th year: ''War will always be with us''.
One thing that requires a much greater dollop of reality among the world's legislatures is the multiply fieldwork-proven anthropological fact that while some people have not been given the opportunities they genuinely need, other folks simply won't get out of bed in the morning. Like it or not, no amount of forced quota corporate policies or affirmative action Government programmes will change the fact that – given a free ticket – opportunistic laziness is a human trait that is unlikely ever to go away.
There is also the philosophical belief [which I support] that in a genuinely egalitarian State offering Equality of Opportunity, every job should go to the best qualified person regardless of sexuality, gender or ethnicity.
Those with a hunger to learn while at school or college will triumph in the end; those who are disuptive in class and become a disciplinary nightmare for teachers will leave with little or no qualification to do anything. Overly-tolerant ''progressively politicised'' teachers who tolerate this (by blaming everything on institutional bigotry) further exacerbate the problem - and neoliberal globalist States that fail to provide quality education render it worse still: above all, they help fulfil all of Plato's worst fears....viz, that an uninformed, ignorant electorate will always vote for the easy civic ride....leading to the Bread and Circuses of Imperial totalitarian tyranny.
It is sixteen years since I christened my philosophical outlook ''radical realism''. Notably, the rigid ideologues have chosen to instigate policies that are antithetical to the ones I put forward: in a nutshell, they have invented a spurious New Normal of surreal anti-science which they insist is ''settled''*.
*There is no intention here to suggest that they did this purely to annoy me:on the contrary, they've done it to please themselves
So the Poor remain and - without dangerous genetic interference – forever shall in one form or another. Such is dictated by the assumption of much of the species Homo sapiens that they somehow deserve entitlement. By far the most notable symptom of Man the Toolmaker-cum-Pisstaker is that he insists that he and he alone has human rights.
The concept of Human Rights is nonsensical from A to Z...and far too often, it produces a demand not so much for the level playing field as uncontained licence to do only that which they find pleasurable. The braindead cry of the 1960s flower-children – ''If it feels good, do it'' – was a slaughterhouse doomed to fulfilment, as indeed it was when the Manson Gang had a fun time slicing Sharon Tate and others into little pieces towards the end of the decade.
As a pack/tribe species wired to exist cooperatively and competitively in the advancement of civilisation, the only rights we have are Civil Rights to protect us from the Tyrannosaurus Rex tendencies of the largely Alpha male leaders of the pack.
The establishment of educated, civically aware libertarianism is the natural output of a desire [among both Alpha and Beta males and females] to ensure that leaders remain in touch with reality by being key providers and protectors of every stratum of the pack. A ''healthy'' pack is one that expects a need for not just creative thinking, organisation and climatic survival, but also for trained Gamma and Delta classes who can construct, fight and if necessary kill predators and hunt for food.
Within that essential, healthy and realistic context lies the true ''natural order of things'' – that is to say, the equally valued hierarchical system that lies behind our species success – competition internally, and cooperation with other tribes developing a similar construct of civilisation that presupposes civil Rights, rather than Species rights.
This in turn explains why chores will always be a part of balanced community life. For to put ourselves beyond chores [based on that deadly sense of entitlement] invites the delusion of Demigod status and endless material greed.
When this becomes apparent in hominid packs in the wild, the beta females start to mate with Gammas, and the delusional Ubermenschen lose their grip. The new Beta-Alpha progeny then emerge to take power and – in theory – the correct balance is restored.
I dislike the distraction of chores and practical repairs because I find them boring. But life in Gambia has taught me how delusions of grandeur can produce a total lack of grip on reality and unfairness that leads to Africa's near universal problem of corrupt greed.
What is destroying this respect for useful skills of all kinds [devoid of social snobbery] is a Godless obsession with the baubles of contemporary life – primarily obscene levels of material wealth and the obsessive desire to trade up to the latest narcisstic 'selfie' smartinfo spy gadget.
The vast majority of the supply chain when it comes to Smartphones begins in Asia...where, research shows, people are of smaller stature with much smaller fingers than Caucasians. For me, trying to leave a typed message when getting no response to a call I've made is akin to trying to paint a Bacon tryptich on tickertape. But that doesn't matter to the diabolical forces subsidising the price of buying and using ''The Beads'': all they care about is building the addiction to unconscious surveillance. This kind of behaviour makes the serial stealing of the Sioux nation's land rights in the 1870s seem trivial by comparison.
In simple psychoanalytical terms, completion of a chore – especially, defeating the endless unreliability of hitech – is good for daily self esteem. Actually, this includes anything designed by Dorkgeeks in charge of what we wrinklies used to call 'npd'.
My last remaining reliable laptop's cursor went awol last Wednesday afternoon, so I was left asking a half-arsed old Hewlett Packard pc for help with the Toshiba cursor deficit. After being variously advised to press fn, f9, control, alt and Del all at the same time - a feat well beyond the skills of Eric Clapton - the Japanese laptop's little arrow remained in hiding like one of those soldiers of Nippon discovered in 1954 refusing to accept that Loundeyes Rongnose had won the War.
And so I returned to make-do basics: armed only with an ancient mouse salvaged from a neolithic Lenovo pc, I removed the battery, drained it, disabled the cursor pad, and waited until Hirohito's revenge was emitting no signs of flickering life. Then and only then did I recharge the Japanese kamikazi Tora-Tora machine and plug in the antique mouse. Result, happiness.
Chores keep feet on the ground, and the owners of the feet real. Politicians hide behind chauffeurs and Torres Vedras style defences. When anger is expressed outside their castles, they pretend it's a coup d'etat and make the questioning of dubious election results a crime; have you seen the concrete-blockaded Palace of Westminster lately? I rest my case: Parliaments, Congresses, spooks, big business, bourse bankers, EU oligarchs, Party bigwigs and climate liars hide away from The People behind bullet-proof glass, bullet-proof limos, armed Special Branch police, AI and Parliamentary privilege. They never use public transport and travel first class or business on planes and trains.
The Zil Lane is alive and well. It's simply been re-presented and hermetically sealed – as have the Unelected State maniacs in their personal worlds behind Pentagon, GCHQ, Central Bank and MI5 brutalist architect-designed doors from Langley Virginia to Frankfurt. But top-down dictatorship is not ''the natural order of things''. The natural order is investment in the tribe as a whole.
When the out of touch purveyors of drivel like ''trickle-down wealth'' and all the rest of the neoliberal monopolist claptrap run out of ways to hide their failure, it's left to the neocon goforits to run an aggressively dangerous foreign policy to distract from the mess.
In order of enthusiasm, the main cui bono medals in War are awarded to Dictators, The Military and its suppliers, black marketeers, globalist banks, energy suppliers, politicians with a lousy domestic policy track record looking for hate figures to demonise as wicked foreign threats, bioweapon developers, all those engaged in media propaganda – and everyone keen to promote a New World Order based on at least duopoly and preferably monopoly. None of those who profit from those wars die in them, and only a tiny percentage ever go to jail.
Putting names to some of those terms, Hitler badly needed a war in 1939, because his 'economic miracle' after 1935 was nothing more than a series of clever financial scams dreamed up by Hjalmar Schacht, and huge spending on rearmament. FDR and Cordell Hull knew of the Japanese Pearl Harbor plans, but Roosevelt was fighting a senseless isolationism at home, and needed a reason to eradicate Nazism. Thatcherite economics were looking sick until Galtieri came along and turned the Blessed Margaret into the War Hero forever after known as the Iron Lady. Netanyahu knew what Hamas was planning earlier this year, but he let them attack as the only means of reversing his hopeless record on domestic issues and foreign diplomacy. And just over a year ago, the Ukraine/Russia dispute escalated into a Russian invasion after eleven years of deliberately poking Putin in the ribs by the Pentagon money machine, in cahoots with Big Pharma's attempt to disguise the US funding of bioweapon labs after 2020.
If you were a global superpower looking for peaceful gains of function from the use of mRNA, why on Earth would you choose to develop that research secretly in an infamously corrupt and pro-Nazi basket case called Zelenskyy-sur-Ukraine just an hour and twenty minutes from Moscow? I mean, Washington is eight hours away even as the Earth turns. If that isn't thrusting a scimitar into a hornet's nest, then what is?
And if you weren't hedging your bets on a duopoly with China, why would you work with Wuhan on an openly military project to achieve a gain of function* by altering the RNA of a rarely fatal virus?
*The enlightened observer continues to wait in vain for Anthony Fauci – Washington's top health bureaucrat – to give us a heads up on what the function was in the first place, and what purpose the gain would serve. All those holding their breath during the delay in this central info-stash turned blue and died around about June last year.
As the Sapiens in the street heads in a confused and at times utterly baffled state of mind towards the end of the first quarter of the 21st century, we have a once-a-millenium perfect storm building on the horizon...something whose nature we have never faced before, because we have weapons more ghastly than most even want to think about, largely controlled by an insane bunch of wannabe Demigods with more money than there is in every Sovereign treasury on Earth combined: men and women who are compulsively obsessed with the idea of bioweaponry being expanded to depopulate nearly eight billion of us, and then used to create a new species of transhuman AI serfs and slaves who will cater for their every need.
Needless to say, it sounds mad, but then...have you listened to any of the swivel-eyed speeches at Davos recently? The madmen of Davos, Langley and bourse multi-billionaires account for around 0.03% of us: but what makes them far better equipped than previous Caligulas is that they have the shareholdings to silence the press, the Silicon Valley and NASA technology to track and trace every human being on Earth in under a minute, and the Bourse directionalising skills and funds to destroy every State, individual and social group in their way.
Reliable sources have been suggesting to me during this past week that a majority in both Langley Virginia and the Pentagon are of the view that they can wipe everyone else out in a war and there'll be no escalation to a major nuclear exchange. You don't have to be mad to hold that view, but it undoubtedly helps.
And yet, and yet....snippets from Twatter X over the last 24 hours:
Speaker Johnson told his House colleagues in a letter this morning, that the Senate immigration & Ukraine deal is ''Dead on arrival" in the House, if the Senate passes it. Johnson made it clear, he will not consider the Senate plan as written under any circumstances. That's Good
It's getting wild in Texas, Governor Abbott told Tucker that he's prepared for potential conflict with Federal authority! 10 States sent National Guards to the border, Gov Abbott is not messing around
Georgia State Senate has approved of a committee to investigate Fani Wills. The Senate voted 30-19 for the allegations that Fani gave her lover, Nathan Wade funds. Sen Brandon Beach said, that this scheme was a fraud against the court & fraud against taxpayers.
Having 25 states backing Texas may have gotten everyone's attention.....
People prefer patriots to Quisling traitors...
And finally, from Yours Truly:
I sincerely hope you enjoyed your Sunday lunch. I cooked a traditional English Sunday roast for my housekeeper, rental agent and best friend in Gambia Hallimatou. We both await future events with a sense of growing trepidation. We also laughed a lot. Trustworthy friends are the best investment one can make in a world where Godless criminality is now the norm.
