Abducted Off the Street: The Carlesha Gaither Story - Review
Nursing aide Carlesha Gaithers eases a patient before surgery and finishes her rounds. She attends a birthday party with her family and talks to her grandmother, Ana. Carlesha doesn't feel she is doing enough for the people in her care, but Ana tells Carlesha that Carlesha is fulfilling her destiny. Ana notices Carlesha looking at her phone and becoming uncomfortable. However, Carlesha says the text is no big deal.
Carlesha stops by a store on the way home when a man cuts her off and questions why she is alone. She tries to avoid and side-step him, but he continues to block her way. He grabs her, fights her, and pulls her into his car. She grabs a hammer and hits him, but he overpowers her, and the glass breaks. He puts zip ties on her wrist before getting into the front seat. As he drives away, Carlesha begs and screams for help in the backseat. A bystander sees the attack and calls the police for help.
When the police look at the footage, one officer concludes it's a simple squabble. However, the lead detective, Detective Darby, sees a woman fighting for her life. He is determined not to add Carlesha to the wall of missing women of color. He calls Carlesha's parents, Carl and Keisha, into the office. Keisha sees Darby's wall of missing women and notices they all look like her daughter. She declares her daughter will not be on that wall. Darby promises to bring Carlesha home and make his department care about women like her. They are against a madman with a history of perversion. Can they save Carlesha before he kills her? Can Carlesha hold on?
This result is what happens when everyone does their job. Carlesha uses her nursing skills to connect to her abductor and coerces him into sparing her life multiple times while leaving clues for the police. Carl, Keisha, and Ana fight to keep Carlesha in the news and make people see her as a person deserving of help. Detective Darby refuses to let Carlesha fade into the background. He hits the ground running and pushes his detectives to make Carlesha their number one priority. Everyone works in concert to save Carlesha from the grips of the devil and prove that hope and care can make a difference. This movie will have you on the edge of your seat, and the abductor, Delvin, will make your flesh crawl. Everyone involved brought this heart-wrenching story to life.

Tall, Dark, and Dangerous - Review
Ed calls Alice into the office and tells her she got promoted to partner at their real estate law firm. Alice plans to celebrate with a well-deserved nap. However, her friend, co-worker Jane, thinks Alice should go out on the town and get a date. Alice admits she hasn't dated in a while but is on a dating app called Be My Valentine. It's an app for busy professionals. Jane grabs the phone and scrolls through the men. She finds Jason's picture and shoots an arrow at him. Later, Jason shoots an arrow in return, and Alice makes a date.
Alice meets at the bar, but Jason isn't there. It's a man named Chris. Chris confesses to using his roommate's picture and information to get dates. Chris doesn't believe he is attractive or successful enough to get women. Alice tells Chris his status and looks aren't the reason. It's his lies. She leaves the date and meets with Jane. As Alice updates Jane, Chris calls and tries to guilt-trip Alice into another date. Alice refuses, and he declares that Alice will be his Valentine. Alice hangs up and thanks the heavens she will never see Chris again. She is wrong. Chris is tall, dark, and dangerous.
Lifetime points out the glaring issues with restraining orders while Alice plays meek to save her reputation. She worries about how others will perceive her if she reports Chris to the police. Alice thinks it will hurt her promotion. However, she practices real estate law, not criminal. Then, Alice doesn't want to bother her parents, Susan and Bill, about her stalker, even after he comes to their house uninvited. Alice learns everyone loves and wants to protect her. This movie can be frustrating to watch, but it's a stark reminder of the holes in the justice system surrounding deepfakes and catfishing.

A Widow Seduced - Review
A Widow Seduced - Lifetime - 2 hours and 0 minutes
Kellie returns home after another unsuccessful date and finds her brother, Jack, standing in her kitchen. Jack warns Kellie to stay off dating apps, and she tells him to knock. Later, Kellie meets with her co-worker to discuss selling her company. Kellie can't imagine running the business without her late husband, Tom. After building the company for 20 years, Kellie found a buyer in two months. After reviewing the final documents, Kellie meets her friend, Sasha, at a bereavement support group. Both women talk about moving on after their husband's death. They enjoy drinks at a bar, and Sasha urges Kellie to keep her toes in the dating pool. Sasha grabs Kellie's phone and likes Dan for Kellie. He is a successful and charming chef. Dan matches with Kellie, and they make arrangements to go on a date. Then, Kellie gets a call from Jack. A man attacked him and demanded $500. Kellie pays the muscle and condemns Jack for losing his sobriety.
Jack and Sasha accompany Kellie on her date, and Kellie falls for the mysterious man. However, Jack doesn't trust him. Later, Dan comes to Kellie's home and cooks for her. He explains that he is between houses, but finding the best place is difficult. As they become intimate, Jack watches from the window. He raids Dan's car and finds a photo of Dan with another woman. He assumes Dan is married and keys Dan's car. Jack doesn't think anyone saw him, but someone is watching and taking photos from afar. As time progresses, Dan becomes a fixture in Kellie's life and wants to move in with her. When she hesitates, Dan becomes upset. Kellie goes to Jack for guidance, and Jack can't hide his concern. However, Sasha tells Kellie to hold on to a good man. Kellie sides with Sasha and pushes Jack away. Soon, Kellie falls ill, her cards decline, and someone attacks her. Can this widow pull her life together before everything falls apart?
While viewers will love to think no one is this naive, crime documentaries will have you believe otherwise. This movie has everyone making mistakes throughout the plot. Mona does everything wrong to get Kellie's attention, including welding a knife while approaching Kellie. Jack doesn't gather enough evidence before presenting it to a lovestruck Kellie. Also, he is a bit creepy with past trust issues. Sasha gives horrible advice. The winning element in this film is the wood chipper. While it's not the classic Lifetime weapon, it's memorable in the best ways. And let's not forget the mastermind in this gaslighting chaos. The plot is predictable, but the craziness is watchable.
I give it 3 out of 5 stars

Baked with a Kiss - Review
Peyton owns Sweet Love Bakery, and it's legendary. Her treats are known for solving problems. If you need to decide, get a promotion, or fall in love, Peyton has the desert to fix it. Peyton doesn't believe the treats are magic, but the townspeople and her employee, Riley, do. Riley confesses that she entered Peyton's bakery for consideration for the Starlight Ball. Riley hopes it will give Peyton the boost Peyton needs to try original recipes. But Peyton wants to stick to her grandmother's. Riley thinks Peyton has a chance because Archer from Archer Brooks Events is on the Starlight committee, and Peyton is catering a wedding for him. Peyton groans because Archer is notoriously picky.
Archer meticulously handles every task on the list even though his assistant, Shonda, is there to help. He looks through Shonda's list of wedding bakeries for Delia's wedding and sighs when he sees Peyton is on top. She says they are the best in town and thinks Archer should visit. Peyton hand-delivers samples for Delia's wedding, and Delia loves the delectable treats. Archer takes a sample and decides to visit the shop in person.
As Peyton closes for the day, a pre-order customer, Chloe, comes in with a request. Chloe wants her boyfriend to propose, so she asks Peyton for a True Love's Pie. Although Peyton doesn't believe it's necessary, she goes to the back to grab one. Then, Archer enters and wants to meet Peyton. Riley asks him to wait and runs to the back. She thinks Peyton should give Archer a Sweet Success Pie to get the Starlight Ball job. Peyton relents and grabs the pie. She puts Chloe's pie on the bottom and Archer's on top. She walks to the front and gives Chloe the top pie and Archer the bottom. A few days later, Chloe gets promoted, and Archer asks Peyton for a date. Peyton realizes she made a mistake. Can she fix the magic she doesn't believe in without ruining her business? Or is the mix-up working as expected?
This cute and foreseeable plot has a heartwarming conclusion. The plot is slow. However, it pays off when the town appreciates Peyton's guidance. The story dives into Peyton's insecurities and her family's meddling, but don't let that distract you. The conclusion is like cake. It can take a while, but the outcome makes the wait worthwhile. Watch this film with your favorite confectionary delights.
I give it 3 out of 5 stars
I'm just telling you the truth - Peyton
It takes more than just good directions to make a great baker - Riley
