I landed in Honolulu, Hawaii, a couple of years ago. The name of the airport was Daniel K. Inouye. As my shuttle took me to the Waikiki area, I looked outside the window and couldn't stop thinking about the name of the airport. Who is Daniel K. Inouye? His name doesn't sound Western; it sounded more Asian. He must have done something great for them to name the airport after him. As soon as I had Wi-Fi, I Googled him. And I was right; it turned out he was an Asian-American attorney, a soldier who fought in WW2, and a politician who served as a US senator in Hawaii. His parents were immigrants from Japan. I ended up spending the rest of the afternoon reading about his interesting background. Anyway, maybe that's why if I could have something named after me, it would be an airport. Just so that in the future, a random dork like me would Google my name and ask questions like 'Who the hell is Angky?' Well, I'm not a soldier who fought in any war, but maybe, just maybe, I could do something impactful in the future that would make the government consider my name for an airport.
