This Saturday post requires effort. What do you do when what this blog is for is not what's taking up mental energy right now? Furthermore the thing cannot be sorted into any semblance of speakableness. Not here, for sure.
Besides this, the promising clouds and breeze are meaningless and empty. No snow all winter and no rain now either. The fire danger is ramping up and up. The squirrels will not leave the bird feeders alone. A big old crow came to the window this morning and tapped on it. Whatever can be weird, is that.
Yes, I'm bummed. Even with the following reports of happy things going on, there is the balancing tension of real life with humans.
The remodel of the lower level of the stone house continues. Trim and painting are before us, which is truly exciting. White-painted window sills deep enough for plants gives me a thrill every time. Yes, I'm complaining and gloating in the same breath. Painting is glorious fun, in my book.
So much for dignity and being a gracious older yet woman, as Luci says. I accused Elv of being moody Thursday morning and had all kinds of wise and helpful things to share with him. But this morning, I am recanting. It really needs to rain.
A point in our favor is that the trash people got the hint and are emptying our dumpster that we conveniently pulled out to the boulevard. They can't drive the sixty feet up our side street to empty it from the usual place because of the road bans. Which is heartbreaking for me just this time of year when sorting and trashing must happen. So blessings to you Republic trash service, I thank you sincerely, even though your phone person way down in Phoenix handn't a clue what my babbling could possibly be about when I took up the situation with her to get them to do what they are actually doing for us after all. Thing is, we always end up paying straight through service or not. So this is a gratitude, in case you can't tell. I know, so many words, about a dumb little thing.
I washed the two windows on the front of the house this week. They were so very dirty that I fear it's been years, literally, since they last were washed. The two robin's nests on the top of the stone column one on each side tucked under the eaves are intact and beautiful. My take away is shining windows and a bit of hygge for the birds.
Now, back to work. I'm painting the inside of the silverware drawers, then lining them with blue and white paper that matches the papered ceiling fan blades. Now there's a spring update for you. I also ordered drawer dividers for the same drawers which are coming Tuesday. Cheers.
