The moral of this story is??? Trusting the unchecked statements we find online, will get us all, SCREWED, and to NOT believe it the superstitions at all, because they're not hard science, there's NO proof that dipping that kid in the River Styx will make him, impenetrable by mortal, weapons, and in the end, the story of Achilles is still just, a SELF-FULFILLING PROPHECY (look THAT up, why don't you???), so, follow the medical advices you seek out to the T! Translated…
Thetis, a sea nymph, although very beautiful, but none of the gods on Mt. Olympus dared pursue her, because of a prediction by Prometheus, that her children would be more outstanding than the father, even if it was Zeus, the ruler of all the gods, recalling what happened between his grandfather and father, Cronos how his father killed off his own grandfather, worried that history might repeat itself, that he may, get overthrown by his own, son, gave up on the idea.
the story of Achilles, found on YouTube
And, mortals with the limitations of the years, don't have that, worry, and so, Thetis ended up, marrying a mortal, Peleus, and, on her wedding day, came the apple saved for the "most beautiful of them all", which started the Trojan War………….
Thetis had birthed six sons with Peleus, as she was pregnant with her seventh child, she'd returned to her palace in the seas, begged for her father, Nereus's help to keep her seventh son; she couldn't understand, why no matter how she'd made sure all her steps were correct, all of her children were still, burned to death by fires?
Nereus was surprised, couldn't believe his ears, Thetis explained, "even if the predictions stated that my sons are better than their father, if they can't live eternally, then what would be the, point? I'd been troubled long, asked around, from the sea nymphs, found a way, said that if my children were rubbed in ambrosia, then, roasted on a fire, then, my demi-god children will become, immortal."
"What? You believe in the sea nymphs (the online messages not get proven to be factual)?"
Thesis then lowered her head, with her teary eyes (her tears were bubbles of air rolling downward into the oceans), "but, but every time I'd done this, my children screamed out in pain, then, they all, died."
Nereus looked at his daughter, sighed, and told her the correct way to do it, "first, before you roasted your young, you must fireproof them. Bathing the children completely, into the River Styx, to protect him from physical harms, then, you can begin, roasting them."
The seventh born of Thetis was another son, shortly after he was born, she'd rushed to take him to the underworld. She got down on her knees, held her son by his heels, soaking him into the dark, icy cold, rushing River Styx, for more than a dozen seconds, then, lifted him, up.
totally UNPROVEN, all of these, and yet, how many of you still, believe them??? Illustration from online
Returning back to her palace, she'd, followed the steps she took for her previous six dead children, covered her seventh with ambrosia, but, soon as she'd started, roasting her own young, the emperor, Peleus, who'd become suspicious of how his previous children had, died, and this time, he witnessed what his own wife was doing to their young, finally, he'd had it, started arguing with her.
Thetis as a goddess, couldn't withstand being treated so awfully by a mortal, even if the mortal WAS, her own, husband, in the midst of her anger, she'd, left the palace, and once she'd, cooled back down, she'd felt, a bit, regrettable, without the following steps, although her son can't be killed by weapons of, man, he'd not gained, immortality.
The child's name was changed to Achilles, and just like the predictions, he'd, become better than his own, father was, the head warrior in the Trojan War, but because his mother didn't follow the "doctor's orders" completely, didn't soak the back of his heels into the River Styx, his heels became, his, weakest point. The Prince, Paris, under Apollo's instructions, shot an arrow into Achilles's heels, that was how Achilles died in battle too young, and, the back of his heel became, "Achilles's tendon" as we modern man came to know.
The three-thousand-year-old myth is still applicable in today's online, world. Just as Hippocratic's first, "Do No Harm". In all medical treatment methods, the first we considered is to NOT put the body in harm's way, then, seek out the results of the actual treatment means. Second, not just in medical advice, when we receive a message, we must, first, confirm if the source of that message is, scientifically sound, viable, and we must, follow the doctor's orders, to pay strict attentions to the details of everything. Thirdly, when the couple fights, do NOT, ever affect the child that's in the, relationship, that's in the midst of, your, marriages.
And so, the moral of the story is??? Believing in the rumors is what gets us into trouble, and yet, a lot of us would rather believe in the unproven treatments of whatever illnesses we may have been diagnosed with, and go after that to try and elongate our time here, instead of being treated by medical professionals, and, this is still due to how we the human beings feared DEATH, when in fact, death is only, a part of life. Think about, everything that is alive now, dies eventually, and, that is how the, cycle of life works, and, when you mess with the nature's ways, you will, get a huge, payback, and this payback will certainly, cause us, to pay big, and we can't, dodge death in the end, no matter how much we want to, evade it!
