#NewComicsday and it's a great day to be a comic book enthusiast! Considerable difference from last week as Image dominates the shelves with some new series along with the latest for The Sacrificers. Marvel offering up some variety and a new Deadpool series to consider; while DC issues a few reprints with connecting cover art for the Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong and Kneel Before Zod continues his rampage. This weekend is the free to attend All C's Collectors Expo, check out the loaded floor of vendors, pick up a few things, and maybe get a few things signed; but for now we've got five stacked high ready fly:
Void Rivals #8> Darak and Solila go face-to-face with Proximus—face-to-face with...certain death? (S) Robert Kirkman (A) Matheus Lopes, Lorenzo De Felici
Smurfs Take> Last issue was the typical Kirckman "lets get caught up" issue that happens after being on a break. I'm excited to get back into the action and see just how deep the conspiracy goes.
Alien: Black, White & Blood#3> THE STAR-STUDDED KILLFEST CONTINUES! In "Utopia," Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing and Michael Dowling take you through the collapse of a civilization that believed it could overcome the worst of human nature to live in permanent peace. But in the war against the Xenomorphs overtaking their home, the citizens of the ship Forward find themselves breaking every principle… Then, in "Gear in the Machine," Cody Ziglar goes guts-deep into the core of human evil, while in "Lucky," Steve Foxe flips the viewpoint in a way that will tug at the heartstrings of even the most seasoned Alien fan. An unmissable piece of the universe-spanning franchise! (S) Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, Cody Ziglar, Steve Foxe (A) Michael Dowling, Tommaso Bianchi, Claire Roe
Smurfs Take> Amazing! This is the perfect way to expand the Alien universe and get some intense stories along the way. No need to understand anything that came before, just jump in and enjoy the ride!
Redcoat #1> SERIES PREMIERE
Immortal. Mercenary. Kind of a tool. Meet Simon Pure, the newest UNNAMED hero, created by comic all-stars GEOFF JOHNS (GEIGER) and BRYAN HITCH.
British redcoat and all-around rogue, Simon mysteriously became immortal in 1776 after a run-in with the clandestine cabal known as the Founding Fathers, which included George Washington, John Hancock, and many other prominent American Revolutionary War leaders. Since that fateful day, Simon has led a life of adventure and avarice, rubbing elbows (and sometimes fists) with many of history's most renowned figures, including his nemesis Benedict Arnold, Albert Einstein, Annie Oakley, and many more. One thing they all agree on: they never want to see him again! But what are the true origins and extent of Simon's power and the mysterious organization behind them? And how has it secretly shaped America and the world? Simon's on a quest to find out!
Don't miss out this new entry in the exciting Ghost Machine rollout—and it's 34 pages of story for only $3.99! (S) Geoff Johns (A) Bryan Hitch
Smurfs Take> Where do I start on this one? The idea is great, excited to see the "Highlander" style trip through time. I really don't know what to expect from this title, is it more of a serious story or sort of silly? Closer to what the Eternal Warrior was back in the day? I'm sure a lot of my questions will be answered by the end of the issue, but I like the team behind it and it's enough to give it a try.
Rook: Exodus #1> SERIES PREMIERE
GEOFF JOHNS (GEIGER) and JASON FABOK, the celebrated team behind the smash hit Batman: Three Jokers, reunite for an all-new science fiction series!
Hundreds of years from now, the man known as Rook was once a simple farmer who fled the crumbling Earth for a new life on the planet Exodus; a terraformed planet where all of nature, including its imported animal population, was completely controlled by humans called Wardens. But when Exodus's world engine failed, the Wardens' power fell into the wrong hands, creating chaos and mass evacuation…for those who could afford it. The rest, like Rook, must scavenge for an escape vessel as the war for control of what's left of Exodus begins. Don't miss out this new entry in the exciting Ghost Machine rollout—and it's 44 pages of story for only $3.99! (S) Geoff Johns (A) Jason Fabok
Smurfs Take> Looks like Geoff is the hardest working writer in Image at the moment. This looks great, and I have been wanting something new and Sci-Fi for a while now.
Batman #146> The explosive Dark Prisons continues as Batman learns from an old mentor what Zur's plans are for Gotham City…and the world! Can the Dark Knight escape from a prison designed by the ultimate version of himself? And what nefarious role does The Joker play in all of this? (S) Chip Zdarsky (A) Jorge Jimenez, Michele Bandini
Smurfs Take> I'm in to see where this goes. The story so far has been good and might be even more entertaining as we see a session on the couch with Joker. Yes, I still think he's waaaaaay overused but this amuses me.
