Happy Friday! I hope this finds you well, and that you're ready for another frugal topic! Today we're discussing planners and the best way I've found to lower the cost!
The planner company of the one I've been using for years has gone up in price. In fact, I've been paying more for the planner than I want to spend. I considered using a different brand of the same type, but as I assessed, I found it wasn't meeting my needs any longer. There are pages that I've needed, like a book list and a sewing project list, that I haven't been able to have in the previous planners.
I've found a planner type that I enjoy doing, and also that's useful to me. I'm using a bullet journal but making it pretty! As you can see, I'm using some pretty washi tape and stickers to accentuate my handwriting and highlighting. The journal I found was less than 20 dollars, and I simply gathered the rest of the items from my stationary supplies. The other planner I was using costs 75 dollars per year, so this method is going to be cost effective as well as time efficient.
I love the idea that I can have the lists I need in my planner, as opposed to other places. I'm keeping the decoration relatively simple, which means I will use the planner more often. I also included the Flylady zones system into my planner, to be used each week of the month the way she designed it. I'm not sure if I will use other parts of her plan, but I enjoy the idea of zones and cleaning specific parts of the home for a week each month. That way, each part of the house is touched monthly and not less often!
I encourage you to do two things. First, check out Flylady and see if her system or part of it could be useful to you. Second, I recommend watching some videos on YouTube about bullet journalling to get started if you're interested. The journals can be as fancy or as plain as you need them to be. I would definitely recommend buying a journal that's already numbered though. That helps me so much!
I hope this frugal form of planning is helpful to you, and I pray that your weekend is good! Happy planning!
Stacy
