Gaming addictions, and how the parents can, help their children, get off of this, bad, habit, advice from the experts…off of the Newspapers, translated…
The Pokémon arcades are all over Taiwan right now, which led to the addictions of school-age children, their spending all their, allowances on the games, the experts point out, these sorts of arcades made children feel challenged, and playing on them, give them a sense of achievement, and too much of playing would lead to addiction, the parents need to make a deal with the children on the time spent on these game consoles, or help the kids plan out other, activities that they can, do. The parents told, that most of times, the parents played along with the children on the gaming consoles, that they're, learning, how to, restrict themselves on the time spent on the gaming consoles.

The spokesperson of the Children's Welfare League, Wagn pointed out, that the survey on the time children and adolescents spend on the online games are u to 32.2 hours per week, five hours more compared to three years ago, in the post-pandemic era, the children are getting used to logging online, playing games, etc., etc., etc., and the causes of addiction include the parents from dual-income families come home late, there are higher chances of children using the cell phones or the gaming consoles.
The occupational therapist, Chen said, that to reach the goals, the children want to gloat to others, "hey I'm so awesome", and this may lead to the addictions to gaming, and the clinical cases she'd encountered, was that the child doesn't do well in school, can't relate to the peers well, and seeks out that sense of accomplishment from the gaming, at first, the parents found, that the child takes the gaming console to school and would play during class, and the teachers' warnings don't do a thing, the parents took a year, taking their young to get treated in psychotherapy, to finally, ward off the addiction.
Chen reminded, if the parents showed signs of addiction, don't force them to stop gaming, that it's a waste of money, etc., etc., etc., instead, the parents should open up the communications, try and make a pact with the children on the time spent on the games, and discuss how they can spend their allowances.
The parent, Tsai told, that before she goes out, she'd made a pact with her own, how many times they can play the arcades, and would hand her kids a small coin purse, with a total of $90 N.T.s, which is around three gaming sessions.
and this isn't that much better either...things parent and child can do together, and they both become, ADDICTED! Photo from online
The father, Lee who took his daughter to play on the arcades told, that a lot of the parents would play with their children, and he'd limited their gaming budget to $1,000N.T a month, "because the adults can also get easily, addicted too."
And so this is, the problem, of the post-pandemic, era, the kids are all used to playing those, gaming consoles from before, when they can't be with their friends, and now, the habits of gaming carried over to the post-pandemic era, and, we all know how difficult it is, to BREAK these, habits of addiction, and, the parents needed to be firm, but not to tough on the rules, and, slowly, ease their children into, getting off these arcades, to CUT off the addictions completely, and, allowing them a few hundred dollars' worth in coins at the arcades per week should be all right, so long as there's adult supervision close by when the kids are playing on those, machines.
